It was a lead in for some movie and it was a 'special' circumstance.

So what channel has Law & Order not infested?

I am really tired of the SVU characters. Please kill Much, Ice T, and Stabler.

I just got the Farscapre Miniseries on DVD, and watched a couple of old eps of SG-1. I was thinking, SciFi is kinda ok again. It slowly picked itself back up to be a real scifi channel. Dr Who, BSG, even the bad saturday movies are like a throwback to the 50's drive in features. I almost forgave SciFi.

And then the commercial for Law and Order SVU came on.

Fuck you Bonnie Hammer.

I am not a Law and Order fan so I don't get it. I also don't get the SciFi channel showing Passions on weekday mornings. I know Passions was similar to Dark Shadows but come on ITS A DAMN SOAP OPERA!!

What kind of "special circumstance" justifies showing a crime drama on a sci-fi channel? I don't care if aliens are landing in the suburbs and assraping the hicks and their cattle, then grabbing the cityfolk for genesplicing experiments, if Benson and Stabler are investigating it then it's still Law & Order, which is (I'll repeat it again) NOT a sci-fi program.

The movie that this 4 hour block lead in to (according to Sci-Fi's schedule) was American Psycho, also not a sci-fi film.

Does science not come into play in law? And is the show fiction? Sounds reasonable to me. :p

Viewers of the Sci-Fi network are incredibly interested in sexual deviancy, hence the old episodes of Law & Order: SVU.

In a landscape where MTV is now a teen reality show channel, The Cartoon Network airs Saved By The Bell, The Learning Channel is all about What Not Wear, American Movie Classics shows a British TV series...what do you expect?

Why not just create the Law & Order channel and get it over with?

I guess since The Undertaker, Kane, and Boogeyman have supernatural themes it qualifies. All part of Bonnie Hammer's evil master plan to turn Sci Fi Channel into USA2.

They've always played horror movies though. I remember they used to have really good marathons of Hammer movies.

That's not a bad idea. Then we would have somewhere to go where we wouldn't have to put up with Law & Order re-runs. Maybe they could show old episodes of Gunsmoke or something.

If any Law & Order show needs to be on sci fi, it's the Goren episodes of Criminal Intent, where he can pull accurate crime scene scenarios out of his ass without any solid evidence, then yell at the suspect until he confesses while the defense lawyer sits there quietly sucking his thumb and doing nothing to protect his client.

Well, Detective Munch did appear in an X-Files episode, so technically that means the L&O shows (and Homicide) exist in the same universe as X-Files. ;)

Anyway, why don't they just change the name to USA2 and be done with it? It's clearly what (stop) Hammer-time wants.

NBC runs (and owns a chunk of) the Law & Order Franchise. NBC also owns the SciFi Channel.

Does anyone think that if the Powers That Be running NBC tell Bonnie Hammer that she's going to run L&O episodes on her crappy little sci-fi network, she's going to tell them no?

Yes, it's a stupid move. Yes, it's cheap filler for Sci-Fi when it runs out of programming. Yes, it's ideas like these that make me cringe when rumors of BSG moving to NBC reach my ears. But I venture a guess that NBC is dumber than Bonnie Hunter.

As the <i>Braveheart</i> pic shows, Hammer will put anything on Sci Fi (sic). If she could get away with it, she'd be airing repeats of <i>Monk</i> and Meg Ryan comedies. Remember, this is the woman who asserted that television shows with spaceships are too geeky for their channel and are only meant for 12-year old boys. Of course, now that they've stumbled onto a monster hit, you won't hear that from her anymore ... at least not until the next time she heavily promotes two new seasons of what she calls her "flagship show" and then cancels it after only one.

In this case, who knows (or cares really) who is to blame. It's just another reminder that the Sci Fi Channel ... isn't.

And X-Files and Millennium are in the same universe, so maybe Benson's new partner on SVU can be Frank Black. :) The first thing they can investigate is where Munch's character development went.

Well, if you want to look at it that way, Homicide crossed over with St. Elsewhere meaning that Homicide, the X-Files, and all of the Law and Order shows making all of them fantasy perhaps.
