ER - "There Are No Angels Here" - 5/04

"There Are No Angels Here"
Spoiler:
A high number of people need care in Darfur; Pratt and Kakarai embark on a dangerous nighttime journey to a hospital in El Fashir.

Note to producers:

Why don't you fucking start a show called ER: Africa already. Jeezus.

However, I wouldn't mind you sending Said to County.

Jadow 05-04-06 09:51 PM

so, Africa is pretty messed up. Who'd a thunk it.

Jadow 05-04-06 09:55 PM

the ratings are down, but ER is still a good show. I like having one or 2 Carter Africa episodes too.

JacksModernLife 05-04-06 10:12 PM

I thought the ratings were pretty steady? I mean obviously not as high as when it first was on, but for a show around 10 yrs old, it's going pretty strong!

I was thinking of if they made an ER: Africa, but the problems would just repeat....with all the killings and stuff; very emotional but not very diverse.....or maybe not...there is a lot they prolly could do.

This episode was excellent and very moving; it went by so fast. And I LOVED it when Pratt just drove through the fire/gunmen baracade. Eff the Janjawi (spelling)! And I was really shocked when he shot the janjawi guy, and I pray that the rest of the janjawi have no idea who did it and don't go killing everyone involved with the doctors.

These Africa episodes are so grueling to watch.

I agree with everything you said. (well, except the "fast" part)

I'm just tired of Africa. Really.

It's like some people get tired of DEK's liberal rants in his shows. Or (what used to be) the incessant back'n'forth between Lana & Clark on Smallville. The early Africa eps did help advance Kovach's character (and to a lesser extent, Carter), however, these episodes smack of exploitation to me.

edit: well, maybe not "exploitation"...how 'bout "agendaism"?

JacksModernLife 05-04-06 10:59 PM

I guess I see it as more of eye-opening than using it for an agenda.

MrX 05-04-06 11:12 PM

I thought it was good. Hopefully it will help Pratt grow some.

I am glad that we will be back at County next week.

Cory02 05-04-06 11:38 PM

Instead of plane and helicopter crashes, ER Africa could have a doctor eaten by a lion or stepped on by a rhino or something. Or both.

The sad thing is that there is more about the Danfur genocide on a tv drama instead of any of our news shows. Guess the missing blonde in aruba warrants thirty hours a week but genocide is barely a ticker mention.

exactly why it isnt an agenda; it's too important to only be an agenda...if that makes sense.
