"The View" replaces Vieira with....
Rosie O'Donnell, who won six Daytime Emmys as host of her own talk show, will soon be taking in a new "View" of daytime television. O'Donnell is set to replace Meredith Vieira on "The View," according to several news reports (the syndicated show "Extra" broke the story). Vieira is headed to NBC's "Today" later this year, a move precipitated by Katie Couric's departure to CBS News. A gig on "The View" would mark a return to a regular television presence for O'Donnell, who hosted a self-titled daytime show from 1996-2002. She won six straight Emmys for outstanding talk show host from 1997-2002, and in all of those years beside '97, the show won an Emmy as well. She was often called "The Queen of Nice" during her time on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," but she's become much more outspoken about politics and other issues in recent years, which could make for some interesting sparring sessions on "The View." O'Donnell and her partner, Kelli O'Donnell, produced the recent HBO documentary "All Aboard! Rosie's Family Cruise," about the maiden voyage of a cruise for gay families (the pair also founded the travel company that offers the cruise). Rosie O'Donnell's other recent TV credits include the CBS movie "Riding the Bus with My Sister" and a recurring role on Showtime's "Queer As Folk." |

Worst hire ever! At least they could have replaced her with a credible journalist with personality like Meredith who can carry the show. Now, it's going to be "The Rosie O'Donnel show" on ABC.

I think it's a revolting choice. O'Donell's a has-been. And really, how insulting is it to hire Rosie after her tirades aganist Star Jones...

Do any of you actually watch The View on a regular basis to actually care who replaces Meredith? I think I've seen The View twice in the last three years. At that rate the most irritating person in showbiz could replace Meredith Vieira without me caring.
