My Name Is Earl -- "Stole A Badge" -- 04.27.2006

"Stole A Badge"

While hanging out next to a storm drain, Earl (Jason Lee) and Randy (Ethan Suplee) come across an object from their past--a police badge. Several years earlier, Earl, Randy and Joy (Jaime Pressly) engaged in a scam in which they stole people's shoes, including the contents inside, at a bowling alley. One item this scam yielded was a police badge. With the reemergence of this badge, Earl tracks down the police officer it belonged to in order to take care of number 127 on his list, "stole a badge from a police officer." Earl finds that the cop suffered a demotion as a result of having his badge stolen. Earl devises a tactic to get the officer's job back. Nadine Velazquez and Eddie Steeples also star.

Anybody?

Funny stuff tonight, I liked it.

Patman 04-27-06 10:05 PM

I thought it was okay, but not as LOL funny as other episodes this inaugural season.

Puzznic 04-27-06 10:12 PM

i thought it was great. One of the best of the series IMO.

Charlie Goose 04-27-06 10:12 PM

The set-up of Earl and co. with the badge was funny, but the bowling vs. police work was kind of weak. Clint Howard adds another creepy character to his resume.

"The badge found its way back to us."
"It's like one of those crazy-ass Australian wooden frisbees!"

However the best line was Randy as they were loudly discussing a crime:

"We're gonna be richer than Whatchootalkinbout's white daddy!"

Squirrel kid.

It seemed like there was some low key Lord of the Rings references going on in some of the scenes.

Yeah, I picked up on that too, especially whenever they threw the badge into the river or whatever body of water that was.

Average episode, I guess. Not the worst, certainly not the best.

I thought a lot of this episode, Clint Howard in particular.

Patman 04-27-06 10:48 PM

Clint Howard simply creeps me out.

wmansir 04-27-06 10:52 PM

Average ep for me. Funniest part for me was the slow-mo musical shot that ended with them busting out the light for the car, oh and the guy giving Earl his gun. The pacing felt a bit off, but this isn't the first time. Sometimes they sqeeze so much flashback into an episode that the rest of it feels rushed.

SPiRAL 04-27-06 11:12 PM

Great episode, and a return of Nescobar A Lop Lop.

MrX 04-28-06 12:34 AM

"Gimmie the jacket dummy"

Randy was great tonight.

TheKing 04-28-06 02:50 AM

I loved them playing Sabotage and focusing on Earl in slo-mo, as he would have fit in perfectly in that video.

Lateralus 04-28-06 04:22 AM

I missed it. :(

Chew 04-28-06 06:12 AM

I hope Joy makes use of her new badge from time to time in the future. :)

The first time I was freaked out by Clint Howard is when he was on "Star Trek". He certainly dispelled the myth that all kids are cute.

Clint Howard is no longer the ugly Howard brother according to the Unsexy 100 list http://thephoenix.com/article_ektid7852.html

Great episode. Love that they had Jimmy(from Yes Dear) as the cop.

After hearing that Jason Lee was a scientologist, and Ethan Suplee too, then seeing Giovanni Ribisi and Juliette Lewis as guest stars, I started wondering what other guests stars are enemies of Xenu. Turns out someone named Mike O'Malley has taken courses at the Celebrity Center in recent years.

As long as those guys don't try and push scientology on me (a la Tom Cruise), then they can believe anything they want.
