I'm surprised pickler is gone as I thought it was a pure popularity contest, this tells me not so much, and the game is hard right now.

People need to step up

Agreed. Pickler survived one bad week, but two bad weeks in a row, and that was that.

Although there is no breakout star this season, the overall qualitydepth of of these singers has been the best ever, Kellie could at least sing a little bit.

Surprising that the public has gotten this astute after years of misfires being propelled into the top 3/4.

Taylor is on alert, he has had smooth sailing, but he better start doing what people think he is capable of, or he could be next... that being said, I am rooting for him.

Ironically, we're now realizing her "ditzy" personality may have all just been an act.

Just now? People have been saying that since her first appearance.

Pickler may have been playing dumb, but it doesn't get much dumber than you yourself telling the judges how badly you butchered a song before they even speak. Luckily for her she's damn good looking.

I went from enjoying Picklers early appearences, to hating her for being fake all the way back to admiring how well she acted as a fake hayseed.

Only two of them actually. Wikipedia is very informative. :)
Taylor - October 6, 1976 (i smell something Doobie possibly :D )
Elliott - July 20, 1978
Chris - December 26, 1979 (hehe...thisclose to being an 80's baby)
Katharine - March 25, 1984
Paris - September 23, 1988

I'm already getting excited/nervous for next week. We all know these 5 can sing, so the song choices are going to be more crucial than ever. The older songs will probably be ones most of us are familiar with, hopefully nothing that's been overdone (please no Whitney, Paris!! actually, i hope she goes this week, so maybe she should do her). The current song might be the problem if people aren't familar with it: "what is that?!!! today's music sucks!!" and so on. And I heard it could be a song from any of the current top 10 Billboard charts, so I have a feeling most will pick something from either the r&b, adult contemporary or adult top 40, or maybe even the country chart. The Hot 100 at the moment is full of hip-hop, and I don't see Katharine doing "Temperature" or "Ms. New Booty" I'm sure you guys can.

At least they get two chances to really make a lasting impression this time. I might be wrong but I seem to remember one season where they had to do both songs back to back. I really didn't like that and hope they space out each person's performances again this year. It at least gives them a break in case they screw up the first song.

Wouldn't it be strange/hilarious/ironic if one of them does that "Bad Day" AI theme song? I hope none of them do, b/c I may have to hurt someone if I hear it again, but it is #1 on the Hot 100 right now.

GO CHRIS. We already have a McPhee; her name is Kelly Clarkson. WE NEED A ROCKER IDOL.

Tommy Ceez 04-28-06 05:28 PM

Chris could change his TOO SERIOUS image by singing Cheap Trick's I WANT YOU TO WANT ME, then blowing em away with one of his current alt-rock fav's I think he would bang out Wolfmother's WOMAN but Nickleback and Stained are in the top 40, so I think he's goin there

Tommy Ceez 04-28-06 05:35 PM

Taylor would get 10,000,000 votes JUST from singing Play That Funky Music White Boy

JacksModernLife 04-28-06 05:38 PM

I would D-I-E if Chris did Dani California....I could see him doing it VERY well, but it's not really his typical "alt" sound....so we shall see what he chooses to do. I just LOOVE that song right now....and It'd be interesting to hear him sing it, although my instinct tells me that RHCP's charm would be lost when Chris sings it...

I think this week will be very enjoyable, and I'm very much looking forward to Chris, Paris, and to a lesser extent, Elliott. I could care less about McFavor and Graylor.

William Fuld 04-28-06 05:53 PM

I want to see Taylor do "Dream On" and Elliot do "Use Ta Be My Girl".
