'CSI: Miami' Tries to Solve a Love Triangle
Show dips its toes into characters' personal lives

By Rick Porter | April 24 2006

LOS ANGELES -- "CSI: Miami" is never going to be mistaken for "Grey's Anatomy," either onscreen, where plot drives the show more than character-based drama, or off, where despite its status as a top-10 hit it doesn't generate quite the buzz of some of its counterparts.

Not that star Eva LaRue isn't trying.

"It's amazing," says LaRue, who joined the cast of the CBS series this season. "Because we barely get any press, I can actually date George Clooney, and no one even knows. ... The guys fight over clothes in the wardrobe department -- who's going to wear what color. But the paparazzi just don't come down this way that often."

We should note here that while LaRue imparts this information with a completely straight face, she is, in fact, joking. The show, however, is dipping its toe into the character-driven waters Monday with a love-triangle subplot involving LaRue's character, Natalia Boa Vista, and colleagues Eric Delko (Adam Rodriguez) and Ryan Wolfe (Jonathan Togo).

Boa Vista and Delko have been carrying on a discreet thing for a while now, but after they "back off," as Delko puts it, Wolfe asks her out. As is the case with countless other inter-office romances, everyone's uncomfortable.

I hate Rory Cochrane more and more eack week for leaving and opening the door for Wolfe.

mikehunt 04-25-06 07:43 PM

granted I didn't pay super close attention, but did the kidnapped chick dial the phone herself or did the kidnapper dial?
because if she dialed why didn't she dial 911?

Thw awkardness of the scenes between Delco/Wolfe, Delco/Natalia, and Natalia/Wolfe should get this show a comedy nomination come emmy time

What the hell was up with H and D's sister? That was a creepy ending scene.

honest question: is this show always this bad? I've never watched it despite being a huge CSI fan and I literally laughed more than anything. how is it so popular? or is that why?

This season it's really become bad, but its never been that good. Most of us watch it to laugh at Caruso.

HistoryProf 04-25-06 10:57 PM

yes....more than anything i was astonished at what a laughably bad actor he is. well not astonished, i already pretty much knew that - which was why i had never bothered with it...boredome got the better of me tonight

It's never been good, but this year it's been that bad. It's popular because it's the CSI brand name, plain and simple.

It's also the best-looking TV drama in HD bar none.

Just for kicks, they should kill off Horatio and replace Caruso with Jimmy Smits. For a show set in Miami (of Los Angeles), there should be more diversity. :)

Then they can kill Wolfe and bring in Sipowicz.

Chew 04-26-06 06:10 AM

^ I'd go for that. :)

Patman 04-26-06 07:07 AM

Well, they did bring in Kim Delaney a few years ago...

At the beginning when Horatio took the phone from the girl and the kidnap victim was on the other end, he looked at the phone and it said "Sim Card not inserted". Now forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought phones don't work without a sim card. Stupid little things like that always bug me. (The poor acting, hokey storylines and and over the top equipment they use bug me too, but its the little things! ;))
