No, the Applewhites didn't move away.
I loved this episode. Some truly great lines (the courtroom scene at the beginning with Gaby and Carlos was hilarious) and a nice turnaround by Bree at the end, re: her son's homosexuality. I'd been looking forward to Carol Burnett's appearance on the show, and was definitely not disappointed. I hope they bring her character back; I really enjoyed her scenes with Bree.

Thank you DH for not dragging the emancipation story line out any longer! Really great episode with pretty much all story lines, except for Susans and Carl's...That is getting really predictable, the best part of that is the daughter's reaction to it.

I love how at the end Parker was checking out the dog's private parts.
The teacher was great: "You won't believe what your daughter will do for a ginger snap."

This was a pretty good episode. I too hope that the emancipation story is now over for good. That was getting extremely tedious.
It is suspicious that the Applewhites have almost completely evaporated from Wysteria Lane. I would have expected Betty to be at Eddy's engagement party especially considering she'd invited Felicia Tilman.
Did anyone notice how HAIRY Carl's arms were? The hair just completely stops at his elbows and then the rest of his upper body is bald. They must do a lot of waxing on him!

I thought last night was a pretty good ep. I really enjoyed seeing Carol Burnett. She seemed to have good interactions with Marcia Cross. Great move by Bree in getting the X-rated material out in the open for the grandparents to see. And I was pleasantly surprised at Bree's apparent turnaround concerning Andrew's sexuality. That could be a good wrap-up for that storyline.
I have been enjoying Susan's storyline a bit more the last few episodes, but I really didn't enjoy it this week too much, although Carl making her the othe woman was pretty funny. And while Susan is my least favorite of the main characters, I love her daughter. She provided a huge laugh in that one scene without even saying a word.
And it's official: I really don't miss the Applewhites. I had almost completely forgotten about them until coming here and reading people's reactions. The show already has so many characters that it really doesn't need the Applewhites.

That was a good episode (and just like the other recent "good episodes", the Applewhites were nowhere to be found. Hmmm, interesting...)
Karl has been great on the show this season - he's a likable guy, but then there is this "lawyer-esque" sliminess to him. I hope he's now a permanent member of the cast because episodes have been noticably better when he's in them.
And Carol Burnett showed how a guest star is supposed to work: great acting without hamming it up. (Someone needs to give this episode to Lesley Ann Warren and then force her to watch it "Clockwork Orange" style).
My favorite part was when Susan was kicking Karl out:
To Karl: "Nothing good came out of our marriage!"
To Julie: "Except for you, honey, you're my rock."
Then back to chewing out Karl some more.

TPTB are setting up some sort of situation where the Gimp Son threatens Danielle that no viewer even cares about, but it'll be happening soon. I just hope the writers see that the characters just aren't working and this season is it for them.

Bree brininging out Andrew's gay porn broke Gabby and Carlos's streak of having the best part of the episode. Julie at the end was pretty good too.

No, a couple of episodes ago was when the 'other' brother was up in bree's daughters room.
