not horrible, but not great. more FOW stuff

Rogue588 04-13-06 07:59 PM

If it wasn't for this thread, I would've (wrongly) assumed that tonight was a repeat.

Thanks for nuttin' Lorenzo. -ohbfrank-

at least next week's has the possibility for being good...

yeah, who'm I kiddin'...

I know when I need to transmit information about covert operations concerning world domination,

I use ....

AOL.COM

Eh, at least Lois has a reason to be hanging around the Kent farm now, and Lana is totally taking on a walk on the bald side. Clark's paternal instincts on display were okay, but it did feel much like the older FOTW episodes from the early years.

Yeah, between the blue triangle, AOL in BIG letters and the subject header "Blog ready", I was TOTALLY surprised it was yet another subtle product placement on Smallville...

Oh, and after seeing every.single.piece. of something made of glass or containing glass, the last thing I would do was LOOK IN A MIRROR.

chrisih8u 04-13-06 08:31 PM

What a terrible episode. The premise of the show is Superman growing up. How can you fuck that up?

Ranger 04-13-06 08:35 PM

The Lana / Lex story actually the high point of the episode.

Spoiler:
it seems like they are setting up Lana & Lex to end up together but I'm guessing that Lex will somehow end up killing Lana and his journey to the DARK SIDE will be complete!

riley_dude 04-13-06 08:37 PM

I hope this episode isn't about how Fragile Lana is or I'll puke.

edytwinky 04-13-06 10:44 PM

Fluff stuff but had bits and pieces that made it worth it like Lana and Lex's ongoing relationship. Also great to see Lois working with Martha now so that means more Lois!

 Since the show has already aired on the west coast and this is merely your own comment, I'll not spoilerize it. But that was too funny.

raven56706 04-13-06 11:15 PM

only to wait for the inevitable Lex saying "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

DGibFen 04-13-06 11:39 PM

Anyone else notice that Tom Welling (Clark Kent) directed this episode?

Other than Chloe confronting Lex and the Lex/Lana kiss, this episode was a waste.

I did have to scream "Muggle!" when the girl formed those glass knives, because she reminded me of the actress that plays Hermonie in the Harry Potter movies.

GuessWho 04-13-06 11:44 PM

Anyone else notice...

Notice? WB's deep voiceover tool announced it at the beginning of the episode.

Legolas 04-14-06 01:25 AM

What a pathetic episode.

How many more superfreaks will get taken down by Clark, yet somehow have some sort of moral compass that prohibits them from telling anyone Clark used superpowers on them?

Terrell 04-14-06 02:43 AM

I have to agree that the continual freaks of the week mantra has grown incredibly tired. It seems the writers have absolutely no imagination. Every freak episode is pretty much the same story. There are dozens of new areas this show can be taken that don't require another superfreak.

Ayre 04-14-06 06:14 AM

The first season was almost completely fotw.

The arcs have gotten much richer. What I haven't undestood is why not let a character come in for 3 episodes and have them intertwine with the major arc. Glass girl had little to do with any arc.

Brack 04-14-06 08:04 AM

My question is this: how are they going to make the characters not know Clark is Superman once he makes that transition? Lois might be conceited enough not to notice, but I'm pretty sure Lex will recognize him, as well as everyone else who's seen him in the last 5 years.

It's all about the 'S' curl and glasses

Ah. I missed the first minute of the episode, so that's why I didn't hear that. :D

The thing about this season that bothers me is that it looked like this season was going very well - and then once they killed off Pa Kent, everything went downhill in the writing department.

Red Dog 04-14-06 08:32 AM

Glassman - that's about the lamest supervillan I've seen since The Scoutmaster on the old tv Radioactive Man (from the Simpsons).

GuessWho 04-14-06 09:57 AM

I was glad to see Lex wearing a purple collared shirt unbuttoned at the top. He's getting ever closer to wearing you know what:

Yeah, it shattered my preconceptions of what a super villian should be.

riley_dude 04-14-06 02:37 PM

Who knew Martha has actual lady friends. Funny how they just magically show up just for the sake of an episode.
