04/12/06 - South Park - Cartoon Wars Part II

This Week on South Park: Cartoon Wars Part II

After leaving Kyle injured on the side of the road, Cartman races to the headquarters of “Family Guy” determined to put an end to the show once and for all.

Noonan 04-12-06 08:21 AM

Hell yeah. I almost forgot this was on tonight. Last week's episode was great. Thanks for the reminder.

Charlie Goose 04-12-06 08:32 AM

Unless Comedy Central pusses out. :)

I hope they do. I'd rather see it replaced with a Terrance & Phillip special.
;)

PixyJunket 04-12-06 08:58 AM

 Yeah, me too.. what more is there to say from the last episode? We shall see..

story 04-12-06 09:20 AM

The promos for tonight's episode have, as far as I can tell, only featured footage from last week's episode - no new footage whatsoever. Part of me wonders if there is some sort of gimmick about to happen, a la Terrence & Phillip.

Hope not. I'm really interested in Part Two being what we were told it would be.

I still haven't watched last weeks episode (I am falling behind on a few shows), but I can't wait to check it out. I might wait until after this airs, so I can watch them all at one sitting.

I believe they will be playing last weeks episode at 9:30 pm and then the new episode at 10:00 pm

Jimmy James 04-12-06 09:02 PM

Well, I guess now we watch to see where this is going.

It looks like it's a non-continuation continuation.

ETA: Nope, just them poking fun at themselves. Nice.

Lateralus 04-12-06 09:03 PM

Whew!

RoyalTea 04-12-06 09:04 PM

i fell for it

Brain Stew 04-12-06 09:08 PM

This first amendment argument is baseless since it's not the government doing any censoring, but the corporations doing self-editing.

Wasn't the question about the President forcing the writing staff to stop it? That would surely be state action.

This is great so far.

Yeah, but the whole greater point is how tv executives don't believe in the first amendment. And how people complaining infringes the writers' rights.

I don't think the argument is quite what you're making it out to be. I think it's that the government has recognized a broad right to free speech within the first amendment and that it sucks that certain media outlets feel the need to censor themselves out of a fear of the reaction. I don't think the argument is that the media outlets can't do what they're doing -- it's that it sucks.

Snowmaker 04-12-06 09:28 PM

Was that removal by Comedy Central part of the actual episode, or was that for real?

joeblow69 04-12-06 09:29 PM

Manatees! It all makes sense now!

RoyalTea 04-12-06 09:29 PM

that terrorist retaliation rocked!

I don't know, but it kind of makes my head hurt thinking about it. That episode folded in on itself so many times it was crazy.

It's kind of a shame that wasn't the end of South Park because I can't imagine it going out on any higher a note at any point in the future. I really dug that episode.

henryfish 04-12-06 09:31 PM

I liked how the King of Hill guys were just quietly minding their own business, doing their own thing.

MartinBlank 04-12-06 09:32 PM

I think they kind of had to dumb-down the concept of "free-speech" relative to censorship. Ask your average Joe, the majority of people love throwing around the word "censorship" without actaully knowing what it means. If you're not allowed to say something, your're obviously being censored, which of course is incorrect.

Great episode! It's all or nothing.

Heh, I was thinking the same thing. Grunter should be happy considering he wrote half a dozen of the lines in tonight's episode.

I agree completely, but it will be fun to watch them try.
