excellent episode
although the claims by the defense that the boy wouldn't know how to handle sodium is laughable since the teacher would have been sure to talk about how to safely handle it when he did the demonstration for the class

Nope and neither was Greg... I think they might going the "Lost" route with rotating characters. Next week looks like Grissom will be the primary player.

And yes, it was a good episode. Glad they're shaking things up as the show sometimes can get stale at times.

good ep, nice to see someone get one over on the CSI's for once, even if it was an
'indigo child'

Clearly that sodium experiment would appeal to any kid in school, any kid, smart or retarded would be interested in blowing shit up.

They needed Grissom in this ep to match up against the young girl (IQ-wise, that is). None of his team had a chance against a 12 yr old high school senior!! LOL

The brother is the son from Big Love, I knew he looked familiar.

My problem is they would never use or have sodium around in a high school especially in an experiment like that. It explodes much more violently than they showed. It is incredibly dangerous. Typically they would use potassium for that experiment and show a film of sodium.

Why is it that the original CSI is so much better and more interesting than the spinoffs. I do like Miami mostly to show off my HD though, for which it has the distinction of being much better than any other show in HD appearance.

We had sodium in my high school. But I do agree, it is a much more violent explosion than what they showed.

I don't think there will be a re-visit. The brother got off right?

And he cannot be retried. The sister did not do it, and unless they imprison her for a crime she did not commit, I don't see how.

"God" (of Joan of Arcadia) really turned the screws on the CSI gang.

I knew she was having a ball creating reasonable doubt, and having the brother insist that he did make it look even more like he was covering for the indigo girl.

It's called "double jeopardy". Once the state blews a case (CSI didn't provide enough evident to prove that the brother beyond reasonable doubt, which the sister provided massive amounts of in order to get the guy off the hook) and the defendant has been found not guilty, the defendant can't be charged with the same offense.

my high school chem teacher used sodium for that demonstration when we had it
also did one with potasium and lithium to show the differences

Well if the defense can now prove that the brother did do it, they can certainly get the sister for perjury. Although they would probably get a better conviction just sticking to her confessions, which still is never going to be much of any punishment for a 12 year old girl.

No, I think the brother killed her for his own reasons (it was just a prank that went bad, i don't think the intent was murder), and his sister just covered for him.

There is no DA that will retry that case. Unless some crazy new evidence appears.
