Let's turn this into an AD tribute thread, complete with every animated gif ever made. Those never fail to make me laugh.

I am sad, but I don't feel like it ended on an "unfinished" note. If Hurwitz is going, best it not continue and become like "Moonlighting" Season 6 or something.... We had a good run, 2.5 seasons of greatness.

FatTony 03-28-06 10:44 AM

it was fun while it lasted.

whaaat 03-28-06 10:48 AM

 The dream is over. :(

Matthew Chmiel 03-28-06 11:00 AM

:( Well, it's time to move on...

At least Fox is still giving us episodes of Free Ride! ;)

Yup they replaced Arrested Development with Freeride and The Loop. Good one Fox.

Imageshack has put the kabash on the GM gif.

JasonF 03-28-06 12:35 PM

Well, like everyone else, I want 8 trillion episodes of AD, all of them at the highest level of quality. But that's not possible, and I would rather see it go out at the top of its game.

Hopefully, Hurwitz is hard at work developing his next show, and hopefully, that one will actually catch on with the public (only to suffer a precipitous decline in quality and be taken over by John Wells in later seasons. Wait, that's not right).

uteotw 03-28-06 01:00 PM

Cancelled for good?

Them?

On the plus side, this show will rank with The Honeymooners and The Office (UK) as series with a perfect run.

BenboC 03-28-06 05:13 PM

Great run. I'm glad I'm one of the few who tuned in to enjoy the ride.

Rypro 525 03-28-06 07:28 PM

[ron howard]Maybe it could be a movie. [/ron howard] (if someone could do a gif of him saying that line in the finale that would be great.

I don't get Hurwitz's position. If Fox had given a full commitment this season, he would have done 9 more episodes which is 3less than what Showtime would have committed to for the fourth season. Is Hurwitz admitting that any further shows done on Fox for the third season would have been lousy? In essence, Fox did the right thing by pulling the plug? Doesn't make sense to me. I wonder if Hurwitz felt that he was not being compensated enough under the Showtime deal, and that's why he nixed the offer. If he really felt that he could not have done a 12 episode fourth season, he would have known from the beginning.

It must've been something like a lowball offer, or there is some other part of the story we don't know about.

Either way, RIP. I converted so many people too!

I don't see it that way myself. It was clear to me that the last 2 eps (especially the final one) had about 3-4 eps worth of material crammed into them. I forget the exact timeline but they got word after the 3rd or 4th filmed ep that Fox was pulling the plug. I figured they had to go back and do a bunch of re-writes so they could at least have some closure to it. After that, to come up with a whole new arc would probably be too taxing for Hurwitz et al. at this point. Of course, the only way I figured the show could be continued if the Showtime/ ABC deal was accepted was for the last ep to be a 'Bobby Ewing's Dead' dream arc... Michael wakes up and realizes he's still stuck with his family and season 4 begins.

What I want to know is what happened to Steve Holt? Did he ever find that hand in the park?

For those who refuse to give up hope:

http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,18669,00.html

Hurwitz said he had briefed most of the show's cast and writers about his decision. He said executive producer Ron Howard asked him to consider serving as a consultant on the show if 20th Century Fox and Imagine figured out a way to continue it without him.

"I said I'd be happy to do that, but that as showrunner, I've gone as far as I can go," he told Variety."
and there may be some validity to the final line of the show:

Despite his defection from the show, Hurwitz left fans with one final straw to grasp, hinting to Variety that he may still be interested in adapting the series to the big screen.
