Why Has Smallville Been Repeats Lately?
 

I've got this set to recordon my DVR & noticed it hasn't recorded a new episode for about 3 weeks now. WHat' sup with that anyone know? Is it just break time & this is normal or do they have special shows airing insteaed?

Because when you make 22 episodes in a 52-week year, you're going to have 30 weeks with reruns or other things. ;)

I find the concept of making shows, especially ones with continuing story arcs, more difficult to watch to be confusing.

It'll be back in 2 weeks on March 30th...

It does seem to be a much longer hiatus this season than in previous years.

To be fair, if you eliminate the four months of summer, then you should only have about 14 weeks or reruns.

That's not fair. My TV doesn't stop working in the summer. I could still watch shows then.

I think they played more new episodes in a row because they had the 100the episode so there are more repeats for a while.

Repeats? Aren't all the stories the same anyway? :)

When did the summer become 4 months?

You have about 40 weeks for the regular TV season, but most shows only do 20-24 episodes per season, that leaves 16-20 weeks where a new episode just ain't happening...

Because Clark and Lana angst takes time...

In Smallville's case, they tend to have their finale in mid-May and have their next season premiere in late September or early October, which makes for four months or so of time between seasons.

that's in Kryptonian months.

The characters only have about 24 weeks of health insurance, and someone usually ends up in the hospital every damn week.

Because Clark needs time to debate if he'll tell Lana his secret. When he finally grows some balls and decides to tell her, something tragic happens and Clark changes his mind.

Repeat until you get dizzy. This has happened, oh, 8,349,999 times in the month since the last new episode aired.

Because the writers need time to develop new and interesting ideas. Like Clark screwing things up for the last time (again) with Lana only to have their breakup completely ignored in subsequent episodes. Ideas like that don't come easy. It takes time to sift through all the good possibilities so you can ignore them and rehash the same old crap over and over again.

ANd yet I still watch this show... :(

Smallville (and a lot of WB shows) basicly follow the standard college semester schedule. That's why there are big gaps in Decemeber (Christmas break) and March (Spring break) and why it ends in early May (Summer break).

Hmmmm.

June, July, August = 3 mos.
Last two weeks of May + first two weeks of Sept. = 1 mos.

3 + 1 = 4
