What the hell happened to the VChip? Shouldn't that be in practically every TV by now? Are those morans complaining about this saying they don't want their kids to be able to see such filth, or do they just not want anyone to see the filth?
|
It's obvious that they don't want anyone to see it. Is Without a Trace something kids should or would be watching in the first place?

Was CBS the only recipiant of a fine for the Janet Jackson-Justin Timberlake? Because those two airheads should've been the ones fined, not CBS.
I remember a celebrity basketball game that was on TV that Timberlake was playing in. The reporter asked him a question, and his response had nothing to do with the question and made no sense, consisting of mostly, "Word up to my dawg, yo" and stuff like that. |
The group that was supposedly responsible at one point for 99.8% of the complaints the FCC received in a given year has a clip on their website of the "offending" scene.

FCC is to right wingers as ACLU is to left wingers.
|
The irony of this is now millions of young kids who never would even consider watching something like "Without a Trace" are now downloading that scene on the Internet just to see what the hubbub is about.
|
what was the title of the "trace" ep?
|
I think the clip is a little racy, but nothing that wouldn't fly in the late primetime spot. Furthermore, the tone of the clip obviously shows that something bad is happening.

I'm not sure I agree with them, but the parent's group is mostly bitching because it runs at 9 PM in Central and Mountain. Maybe it's a little racy for 9 PM, or maybe those hicks should make their kids go to bed an hour earlier. More seriously, maybe the TV powers need to rethink things running an hour earlier in Central and Mountain. |
ah, hell no. i would never be able to get used to primetime at 8 PM.
but i agree. the clip is not bad. was it cause we see a guy's nipple? |

That clip was lame. The onlly thing that's schocking about it is that someone approved it in today's fine happy FCC climate. You can show dead hookers and pedophiles on SVU but not kids making out?
|
It was a lot of groping but nothing out of place for that show's timeslot. In fact, I think that's about the raciest thing they've ever shown on Without A Trace. Hardly worth getting upset about.

Gotta love the PTC's description: http://www.parentstv.org/ptc/action/...ce/content.htm
Makes it seem worse than what it is. |

The problem with that theory is that it will be some current right wing nut's offspring who will be taking over for the older generation. It's never going to end. Maybe one day we will go back to having NYPD Blue like standards, but it will go back to being conservative as well. Back and forth, back and forth. THe biggest problem is that there is no Larry Flynt type equivalent for networks and big corporations that's willing to take on the fcc and government, especially with the chance of losing station licenses. |

As it is, the networks do take on the FCC in their own way. First by broadcasting the content in the first place and then through lobbying and appealing any fines as far as they can, despite it being pretty much a losing cause every time. Getting to the point where they can take a case to the Supreme Court and get the Court to reverse their previous decision upholding the FCC's ability to fine stations for indecency is going to be very difficult and time consuming, and probably not worth the cost and effort (though a handful of cable shows push the envelope, there's generally little difference between what we see on cable vs. what we see on broadcast television in terms of indecent content, despite the lack of FCC oversight of the cable dial). I could see why a company like CBS or FOX wouldn't find the time, effort and cost worth it. |
