So good that I'm at the point where now I actually feel sorry for my friends and family who don't watch it or haven't watched the first four seasons on DVD

God, what a good show. A dozen quotable lines AND the bare ass of my favorite FireFly character.

I wish someone had some firm intel on what is happening with this show. Why are they calling this a season finale when it is only a break in the season? When will THIS season resume? Will there be a sixth? Gimmie something, people, I'm dying here!

sometimes they call it a "finale" even though it's technically a "break" .. BSG I think called it a "Summer Finale" before it returned in Dec/Jan..I guess it's just ..marketing..or maybe they couldn't decide if the show will continue..so they called it a "finale" and it'll either come back with a few or alot of episodes.. (S1 had 13 episodes, S2 13, S3 15, S413, and this "season" will have had 11 after next week) ..I forgot what it was originally but I think they said this will have 20 episodes and a "break" after 10 (I don't remember that far back)...I guess this could always be a "short" season and they can have a "season 6" for 11-13 (or more) episodes when it returns whenever that is..

I bought the first 3 seasons the day after Thanksgiving on DVD, because they were cheap and I'd heard it was good. By the time I finished the 3 seasons, 4 came out and I bought it. Just as I finished the 4th season, 5 debuted and I've watched every week. This is hands down the best show I have ever seen on television. After next weeks finale, I won't know what to do with my time.

Un... be... liev... able...

Best show EVER!!

I have a feeling Kav is going to rape Vic's wife. Kav is SOOO far over the edge that he is only thinking one thing now.. To personally hurt Vic.

Man, I feel so bad for Lem. I mean he was the cleanest guy of the strike team (didn't want to do the money train, had nothing to do with Terry's murder, etc) and he's the one going to prison. The opening scene with him crying was intense.

How about Vic and the team getting another cop killed! If they didn't go for that plan from Antwon that cop would still be alive!

AWESOME SHOW!

I actually think the ratings have slid this year, so they may be wrapping this at the right time. That being said, best episode of any show this year, and one of the best for this show in at least 3 seasons.

Vic once again proves he is one of the greatest TV characters in the last decade.

Great Stuff.

And The Unit's ratings have been pretty solid, but that show does not seem to hold a candle this one, I can't see Ryan's imprint anywhere on it.

Season finale should be awesome

Geofferson 03-16-06 07:29 AM

Agreed that it was an excellent episode this week. This season is one of the best, IMO.

tbird2340 03-16-06 07:48 AM

Has anyone watched the Unit yet? I heard it was pretty cheesy..

There might be a sixth season.

If you hit the audio link on the page and skip ahead to about 75% through the interviews, Ryan basically says they will start filming in April for the next 10 episodes, which will air either late 2006 or early 2007 (network's decision) and that halfway through writing/filming those episodes, they will have to come to an actual decision to go one more season or end it

Well it is and it isn't. The "season" is technically ending b/c FX is putting it oon hiatus since this season is actually longer than the everage for the show.

The reason this isn't really a season finale is based on how the season arcs for the show have worked in the past - big bad (person, situation) surfaces, complications arise that entangle everyone in the Barn here and there, big bad gets (mostly) resolved. This ain't happening next week. This puppy is just swelling to a big ol' head. I think things are just a tick away from being completely tipped on its ass. We're about to be left not knowing what to expect in the second half. Next week is going to leave all of us saying aloud "Rocket Fuel Malt Liquor - DAMN, it's crazappy!" ;)

(Oh and BTW, I think Kavanaugh is going to rape Corrine.)

I saw this weeks episode, standard watered down military CBS drama. Not must see TV by any stretch.

uhftv 03-16-06 11:29 AM

good episode.

Shame they havent even started filming the rest of the season.

I wonder if they till maintain the "7 days to write, shoot and edit each episode" credo or was that just for the first year..

They've been showing the first year on Spike TV, and it looks and sounds SO different...

It's also weird that the show moves on continuously from year to year, but takes much longer in the real world. Meaning, it's been 4+ years since the beginning, but they said Terry was in the Strike team only 2 years ago, since we have to wait a year between seasons, but the shows usually start immediately after where the last one left off.

Looks like they're phasing out Kavanaugh and reintroducing Claudette as Vic's nemesis, which was a nice surprise.

I'm amazed at how they made the the Anthony Anderson the 'supervillain' of the show. He just seems too smart for the Strike Team, he was like in EVERY episode last season.

Has there ever been a woman on the show who HASN't made out with Vic?

Well and it HAS been a while since last season since about 9 months have passed up until now since Danni is having her baby.

DJariya 03-16-06 01:15 PM

Shawn Ryan's going to be making alot more money working on The Unit. But, he's got so much going against him creatively working on a network show, mainly the FCC. If he decides to work on the Unit full-time, he should let Scott Brazil, Glen Mazzara run the ship on The Shield to keep it going.

A bit of time passed between seasons 1/2 and 3/4, as well. Season 1 ended with Vic's wife leaving him, and we find out in the beginning of 2 that he has been looking for them for a short while already. The 3rd season left off with the Strike Team's massive implosion, and 4 has Shane and Lem already pretty established in their new positions.

HN 03-16-06 03:41 PM

what an amazing show.

claudette going off on billings, shock on the strike team's faces during the heist, kavanaugh's tirade after he finds out about Lem's deal, antwon forcing mackey's hand. they could have gone on hiatus right there and i would have been more than satisfied with this part of the season, but they're gonna give us one more for the road which i have no doubt will be spectacular.

i hate overly gushing over a tv show but this one really earned it.

Chauzer 03-16-06 03:50 PM

wow, great episode

i thought this was the last eps of the season w/ the ending they had in the eps.. wouldve worked really well as a season finale

Shoveler 03-16-06 04:17 PM

Am I the only one that thinks Vic is setting Kavanaugh up with Corrine? He knows that Kavanaugh has used Corrine in the past. He knows Kavanaugh is coming unhinged (with his behavior when he arrested Lem). I think it is clear that Vic didn't expect to bang Gina Torres when he went to her house, but the look on his face when he realized what a great opportunity he had... priceless!

I think the entire reason he told Kavanaugh about the "sweet butter" was to provoke Kavanaugh to pay a similar visit to Corrine. It's a win-win situation for Vic. If Corrine shoots him down in flames, Kavanaugh is even more pissed than he already is. If Kavanaugh forces the issue and rapes Corrine, I think Vic is ready and waiting to barge in and save her. If Corrine agrees to do Kavanaugh without violence, even if there is some coercion on Kavanaugh's part as others have suggested (or maybe I should say even if there isn't), then I'm fairly sure that Corrine has just become useless to Kavanaugh as a witness, as Vic will certainly point out to him, since I'm fairly sure that the lead IA investigator is not supposed to be doing the ex-wife of the primary suspect who just happens to be one of his primary sources of evidence and information.

I've just gotta believe this is like the warehouse sting Vic set on Kavanaugh a few weeks ago (when the trophy was bugged), and that Vic is playing Kavanaugh like a fiddle.

MovieExchange 03-16-06 06:46 PM

You know what I'm looking forward to? The season 5 DVD when we get a commentary track from Chiklis and Whitaker on this week's great episode. I can't see how they couldn't put Chiky, Whitaker and Ryan on that ep's track.

Speaking of commentary tracks, is anyone like me in that you tend to find the commentary tracks on the DVD's almost as entertaining as the actual episodes? Even when it's just the behind the scenes people, you learn something interesting about the episode.

movieking 03-16-06 06:50 PM

Another great episode.

It wouldn't shock me if K raped Corinne, but based on what we know about him (and his near obsession with following the rules), I can't see it happening. But if someone could make him cross to the dark side, it's Vic.

mikehunt 03-16-06 07:03 PM

how does vic expect to explain his meetings with Antwon right before and after the robbery of the police warehouse?
