Chris was not a Captain last season so it must have happened in the decade since season 5.

I know you're probably exaggerating about the decade comment, but in the new episode, Carmella talked about her dream concerning the "missing person" from the Long Term Parking episode, saying it's been about a year since anyone has heard from her. I'm curious if anyone else picked up on it.

Oh, just friggin' say the name. ADRIANNA!

It's been nearly 2 years since the episode where SHE DIES originally aired. If people haven't got up off their asses to see it by now, there's no sense tiptoe-ing around the spoiler queens. Cripes - the "Long Term Parking" clip even played in the "Previously on The Sopranos" opening segment.

If someone who hasn't seen Season 5 is snooping around the threads for the current episodes gets "spoiled," too freakin' bad.

AJ will wind up boss

Everyone assumes that Christopher or Silvio will take over when Tony goes. But I am almost certain the show is setting it up so that AJ winds up taking the reins for his father.

Is the old guy in this photo Carlo Gervasi?

Actually, I just was too lazy to look up the correct spelling of the name and didn't want to get it wrong. :)

That photo would sort of sugest that Bobby isn't a captin?

That is probably the silliest comment I have read in this thread. First off, he has 0 ties in his fathers business. He doesn't have any experience what-so-ever. Tony has also said many times that he does not want AJ to be part of the family business.

The reality is that Christopher would probably be the one to replace Tony. Even though he isn't blood, Tony does treat him like he is.

What makes you say this?

My thoughts exactly though I vaguely recall Bobby getting a bump when Tony was meeting Junior and Bobby at the doctor's office.

Was Gene a rat or not? It seemed like he had given the feds some intel, but I got the impression that he hadn't been cooperating with the FBI for a long time. When they asked him replace Curto as the CI, Gene finally flipped out and hung himself.

Actually, The Sopranos job probably was only around 6 weeks of work every year and a half. Plus, She probably made more in the 2 years on Joey than the 5 years on the Sopranos. Add in the fact that this may be the last year of the Sopranos, I'd say she made the right choice.

I gotta agree with you flashburn. Unless there's some major developments in A.J.'s storyline (and those pre-premiere interview blips did lead one to believe A.J. at least has something somewhat significant to do this season), he won't be "boss" of the N.J. crew any time soon. Christopher is the "next in line" inasmuch as Tony's treatment of him - especially during last season's issues with Adrianna (the rumored "blowjob" of Tony that caused the SUV to roll over) - demonstrates a close familial tie. Silvio and Paulie, though old guard and longer in "the life," will get passed over for "blood." I guarantee it.

sdcrym 03-13-06 04:43 PM

Am I the only one who interpreted the AJ comment as a joke?

clckworang 03-13-06 05:11 PM

I also was really impressed with the premiere. Couldn't believe the ending! You could definitely hear me gasp when Tony was shot. The suicide wasn't a big surprise to me, but his deaths was definitely brutal to watch and realistic.

And I agree with others that the unbelievably long break in between seasons can be a disservice to this show. There is just such a large cast of characters to work with that I just couldn't really recall some of the minor characters that were popping up in this ep. It makes me wish I had gone ahead and rewatched the previous season as a refresher. But now that the new season has started, I can't wait for next week!

Rypro 525 03-13-06 05:14 PM

the line by christopher "is that a fucking cathider" made me laugh for some reason. Also, did anyone notice the "Brianna loves Jenna" poster in the office of the club.

Don Vito Corleone said the same thing about his son Michael, and we all know how that worked out.

Yup, good stuff.

DVDHO 03-13-06 05:28 PM

Im one of the few that have had the idea of AJ becomeing a big part in the family buisness, maybe not a boss but have a big part, reason why during an interview with AJ he said he plays a much bigger role this time around and he has had big roles in season's past, when you see Tony at AJs age in teh flash back epi.you can see that there indenticle in looks and in some ways the way they are,Tony didnt look like a Boss when he was in his teens,I think there is a good chance he could play a role in the family, only time will tell.

Great Epi.by the way, best season opener out of the 6 seasons imo.

dvd182 03-13-06 05:29 PM

I'm not sure how much to read into it, but the words spoken over AJ in the opening passage of this episode would somewhat foreshadow that he gets involved in the business.

Rypro 525 03-13-06 05:51 PM

noticed this on zap2it.com regarding the next few episodes
Spoiler:
The plot turn at the end of Sunday's episode precipitates a reckoning, which Chase and his writers render in a multi-episode, bathed-in-metaphor dream sequence. In "Sopranos" dream land, limbo is some identity-less, Costa Mesa office park sort of place, your wallet and briefcase mysteriously not yours, your hotel elevator broken, a stuffed animal sitting in a chair.

I never watched a Sopranos episode till this January and was glad to have HBO onDemand so I can watch them all before this premiere. Great show and considering I polished off the last 5 episodes yesterday before this premiere everything was still fresh in my mind.

WOLFie 03-13-06 06:44 PM

I liked last night show and was kind of Surprised. I hear this season will be the darkest so I also think AJ will step up because of what happend and follow in Tony's shoes.

Also to those that metioned weight. I have been watching all the seasons in build up to this and I think nearly everyone got slimmer. Tony and Bobby lost there huge guts and even Carmella looks thinner and not to mention Vito looks like he stuck with a semen only diet and is a few hundred pounds slimmer. The only one I think stayed the same or got fatter was Tony' sister.

Yes....the episode had the black bird in the window and all the negative foreshadowing that had Chrissie freaked out.

It was hardly her choice -rolleyes-

she does a comentary for that episode on the dvd - it's pretty informative and entretaining....and she repeatedly mourns the casting off of her character and discusses how she found out, etc. she concludes that she wants all of them to die a horrible death in the end
