Joey returns (3/7/06)

Joey returns tonight!

JOEY AND THE SNOWBALL FIGHT
8pm 2006-03-07 ALL NEW!

Spoiler:
JOEY'S FEELINGS FOR ALEX FORCE A CIVIL WAR - Joey (Matt LeBlanc) begins acting weird with Alex (Andrea Anders) when she sets off on another romance with Dean (Gregory Harrison). Meanwhile, Joey's action figure arrives with some quality control issues. Also starring Drea de Matteo, Paulo Costanzo, Jennifer Coolidge, Miguel Nunez. TV-14

Doubt I need to spoiler tag for a show like this, but just in case.

Well, let's see how long it lasts this time.

rfduncan 03-07-06 08:47 AM

Softly limping to the finish line of season 2 - and likely the series finale.

Charlie Goose 03-07-06 08:50 AM

Back for one last gasp, I guess. It should do great numbers against American Idol.
I watched when it was on, but barely missed it when it was off.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Just thought I'd throw this in as an incentive:

The only problem with your incentive is: she won't be here for season 3 regardless of this show's future. :(

Yeah, but in the meantime.......

Patman 03-07-06 05:59 PM

Not true, she'll be back if Joey does return for a 3rd season. That other show she signed on would have to re-cast her part on that new show should Joey somehow be brought back next season.

Well put. Same here.

Snowmaker 03-07-06 07:25 PM

Not a bad return.

I'm getting tired of the back and forth stuff between Joey and Alex though. I wanted them to hook up already at the end there.

Chew 03-08-06 06:06 AM

M'eh. At first, I was hoping a Friends spin-off would do well. But, I'm at the point now where it doesn't matter a whole to me which way the shows future goes.

I know next to nothing about Brokeback, but I thought it was a short story and not War & Peace? (I know, I know, "for comedy effect" ;) )

Trelach24 03-08-06 07:24 AM

I'm bummed that this show isn't going to make it. I love it. The "hoes before bros....." part last night had my dying.

You are correct - it was published in the New Yorker. What Joey had must have been the Norman Mailer novelization of the movie. ;) If it was a joke, someone should have said something about its length. The show's comedy is too broad to have a rather Arrested Development-style joke like that in it (and the audience certainly didn't get it).

I think it was just another little flaw in the show. I mean who does the research? Everyone in Hollywood should know it was a short story. Must have been the same person who had selective amnesia casting Adam Goldberg as Michael's father when he'd already been Chandler's roomate Crazy Eddie (the replacement Joey). -ohbfrank-

I'm guessing they expected no one would recognize him under that beard.

Morf 03-08-06 09:23 AM

I did get a laugh when Joey opened the black action figure and he pretended not to notice because his black friend was there.

boogieman03 03-08-06 10:22 AM

I laughed at this episode. There were some really funny parts. I hope they keep Adam Goldberg around. I found him funny as well.

If that is the best thing about this show that is probably why the show is getting cancelled.

guywall 03-08-06 12:39 PM

For a sitcom, its worth the 20 minutes of viewing (thanks DVR) for the one-liners.

Charlie Goose 03-09-06 10:34 AM

In ratings news the show's return netted 4 million viewers, which was beaten by a show on the Spanish station Univision.

Frankly I am surprised they never started bringing in Joey's "Friends" once the ratings started tanking.

So am I. You would think that as close as they were, Chandler would of shown up.
