Wow. The origin story of Barney! I like the becoming Darth Vader homage as he gets suited up and made over.
Does anybody know the song that was playing during the final moments of this episode?

The birth of Barney and Suit UP!
Way to many commercial breaks.

Great ep, though I also noticed more commercials than normal. I guess that was their excuse to break Barney's story into parts.
Ah, the origin of "suit up"... legendary...

Maybe it was the flow of the episode that didn't work for me (due to the numerous commercial breaks), it was losing a lot of momentum as Barney's origin was being revealed.

Great episode, loved the resolution of the Shannon story... Barney's response to calling her back! Hilarious. I also found the pace of the show was seriously off due to the awkward commercials...it felt like we got 3 minutes of show, 4 min of commericals and repeat for 30 min... Other than that, great.

This is the first episode I have seen, though I have been hearing about the Barney character.
Can anyone tell me the basic premise of the show, who the characters are (especially Barney) and why they hang out together?

Ted is the Narrator and dude trying to find a ladyfriend.
Marshal and Lilly are his friends from college and roomates. They have been dating for like 8 years or something.
Barney is awesome!
Robin is one of the first girls Ted was interested in when the show started but they decided to just be friends and keep hanging out. But as you could see last night things have been slightly more complicated between them.
The new chick is Ted's GF that he met at a wedding she was catering. He had to track her down cuz even though they were in to each other she wouldnt tell him her name. She also has fat arms. Luckily they must have been covered up last night cuz they didnt bother me.

I guess it wasn't just me who noticed all the commericals. It doesn't affect the flow quite as much since I'm watching it on DVR, but it was annoying.
But I thought this was one of the better eps. It was cool to get an origin story for the best character on the show.

Yes, this episode was legendary. Fool of me that didn't notice the Darth Vader homage (not a big SW fan anyways).
Good thing that I DVR all of the shows I watch, that way commercials don't bother me. I always watch the shows at least 15 minutes after they started.
Of course Barney was the king yesterday but Marshall and Lilly keep stealing scenes. I also liked how they ended the episode.

Well to take the Vader reference even further. Ted is Barney's apprentice like Barney was the earlier suit guys apprentice.

I thought you watched the show? It was pretty much all about Barney and he desribed himself better than anyone here ever could.

Ted's story blew. Bad writing there. They could have given him a different embarassing story even with Robin, that wasn't so lame or boring.
And I wonder if the writers actually had an idea for what Ted's chick's (I want to call her Aliison) story was. I've been in love with her since she was Dylan on Good Morning Miami
