The Shield 1/31/06

Has a thread been posted today?

Tonight's episode had to be rough for expecting mothers, that was just ghastly.

Too bad Vic and Lem don't know sign language, that'd totally bypass the wire with ease.

Now Dutchboy knows that Vic has IAD on his ass.

The ending with Vic and his CI, and then getting walked in by Cavanaugh had some good tension going on.

Michael T Hudson 01-31-06 10:24 PM

The birthday angle was intresting.

Ranger 01-31-06 10:27 PM

It was great seeing Vic shouting at his CI for not warning him.

What's with Claudette? Is she sick?

MrX 01-31-06 10:30 PM

I loved the look on his face when he walked through the door and saw Vic with her.

Danny with the verbal bitch slap to the hot officer in training was good too.

Phyre 01-31-06 10:49 PM

Ha, I just realized that that defense attorney was the brunette from Muholland Dr., I don't know how I missed her name in the opening credits before.

I thought this was one of the best episodes in the season thus far, a lot of plot lines are starting to thicken.

MovieExchange 01-31-06 10:50 PM

So it looks like Claudette has Lupus. IIRC, it's one of those disease that hits blacks much more often than other races.

Looks like Vic is really about to turn this all around on AssInvader, but it's still early... there could be another twist.

Hot rookie cop girl... all I can do is echo what people have been saying the past few weeks, she's going to get someone killed. Probably Julian.

Great episode. Show seems a lot more on track this year than last year ...

Might it be that Shawn Ryan has a new Co-Executive Producer?

Great episode

I missed last season though I've caught most of the episodes this season. What was the deal with Vic and the CI? Who is she?

And what happened to Glenn Close?

DeputyDave 02-01-06 12:20 AM

Am I crazy or did they just start adding comercials after the opening title card. Last week they had one (a car comercial) This week it was two. I could swear the last 4 seasons went straight from the title back to the show.

Rypro 525 02-01-06 12:28 AM

the CI was introduced last week, and Glenn Close said that she wanted to spend more time with her kids (she lives out in the east, the shield films in the west), but i have heard she might make an apperience this season.

Did you watch the 10pm airing or the 11:05pm airing? They usually go straight into the show after the opening credits in the first airing, but they do show commercials on the rebroadcasts. I watched the second airing of this episode because I was watching the end of the SOTU, so I don't know what they did during the 10pm broadcast.

No, the CI goes back to last season. She's been around for a while.

DeputyDave 02-01-06 01:29 AM

What a kick ass episode. How can one show consistantly maintain excelence after this many seasons?

The previews looked great as well, its pretty obvious what's going to happen.

My take on later in the season (not based on previews or spoilers):

Spoiler:
Forest's character will go rogue and/or crazy after Vic slips the noose and makes a fool of him. Going off the grid he will hunt and stalk Vic with the final confrontation coming at season's end

Count Dooku 02-01-06 05:54 AM

I'm surprised Vic is turning things around on the IAD investigation so fast, but that just makes me think that there are more twists and turns yet to come. I'm very excited to see where this is going.

Yes, she was part of catching Antwon Mitchell.

You realize you WILL be rather lost most of this season until you catch up on the last, right? Rent it. It is on DVD. -ohbfrank-

That last scene between Vic and Kavanaugh, just the looks between them, is the reason this is one of the best shows on TV. Whittaker was excellent there, and when he quickly turned on Vic's wife, but the look Vic gave him back when he left was even better. First-rate stuff...

Charlie Goose 02-01-06 08:33 AM

Kavanaugh is bordering on obssession now, with the way he immediately changed course with Vic's wife. The scene with Vic and the C.I. was very tense, I really thought he was going kill her and solve all their problems. Then that sweet staredown between Kavanaugh and Vic. This season is great so far, I'm even interested in the subplots of Claudette's illness and the careless rookie hottie.

Not reading the thread, but my DVR did not record this!! I now have to wait until Sunday to watch this.

Wow, that sucks. I couldn't wait. Are you sure Sunday is the next time? I thought they showed it 4-5 times a week. I would have a torrent of bad feelings about missing it.

maxfisher 02-01-06 09:10 AM

This is nothing but speculation, so I'm not spoilerizing it, but I could see Vic figuring out some way to play politics to get Aceveda on his side and have Kavanaugh knocked off the case or out of the force. Of course, I think they've established at this point that Kavanaugh's obsessed enough that he'd pursue it on a personal level if he was kicked off it officially.

Excellent episode this week. While Whittaker hasn't bothered me in past episodes, this was the first one that I really felt like he fully pulled off the character in a way that felt real, for lack of a better term. Not sure if it was a difference in his performance, the writing, or a combination of the two.

DVD Josh 02-01-06 09:12 AM

I'm thinking that Kavanaugh doesn't have too much faith in Lem and has probably bugged the clubhouse.
