Glad to see the President's wife basically shun him. I'm wondering why she didn't/doesn't just leave him.
I'm also loving Bill Buchanon. The interaction between him and Lynn is great. Astin is doing a good job. Both are developing into great characters, Bill's puss out moment last season aside.

Diggin the pace this year. Plot lines ya thought would be dragged out are getting resolved quickly. Must be a lot planned in the remaining hours if they can give up the ole mole storylines so easily.

That was a great ep last night. I really enjoyed it. I figured Aaron would play a big role in Jack's mission about Cummings, but I figured it would be Jack contacting Aaron and then Aaron just helping him get in to see the president.
I really liked how they had Jack captured, and even better, I liked how Jack really gave a logical reason as to why Aaron should help him out, because I thought what Jack said really made a lot of sense. What does a Secret Service agent do if the president's order contradicts the entire purpose of his job? He has to stick to the job's objective. Good call.
And I'm also really enjoying the first lady far more than I thought I would when we first met her. I like how Jean Smart plays her big but not too big. Whether she's being manic or not, I always have a sense that she is grounded in her mood. I'm not sure if that makes any sense, but I guess I'm saying that there is always a logical in the first lady, even when she is apparently behaving in a manic and/or illogical way. I'm sure I'm not getting my point fully across, but I tried. You also have to give Smart credit because her character has definitely been going through the most character changes, by which I mean her moods, motivations, etc.
And I don't think I've mentioned it before, but I love the first lady's theme, as in the music that accompanies her story. It really has a great creepy feel to it, but still works in the context of the rest of the show.
As for the president, is it possible to have a more wishy-washy guy in charge? Was he really about to let Cummings walk for ordering the assassination of Palmer? I do believe he was grateful to Jack and Aaron for exposing Cummings. I think he really wanted to turn in Cummings but just didn't have the balls to do it himself. And I couldn't believe Cummings' confession! That was powerful stuff; he had me yelling at my screen about what a douche bag he is.
And I geeked out as well when I saw David Fury's name listed as writer, and I think he did a great job with the ep. This was his first 24 ep, wasn't it?
And then the previews for next week! Especially the very end! Let the speculation begin.

I couldn't really suspend disbeleif after Jack whipped out that knife... how did he get that. If the SS guy didn't fully know what was goign on, was he going to give jack a knife knowing this accused presidential assassin was going to be in the same room as the president with a knife.

You don't think Aaron would give Jack back his gear? He may have had doubts, but he knew how close Palmer and Bauer were. Couple that with the President's wife corroborating Jack's story and I have little doubt Aaron would return Jack's belongings.

Oh it was completely far fetched, I cringed for a second, but just didn't care enough to let it distract me.

I'm digging Lynn so far, mainly because as of yet he's actually making good decisions and is willing to (gasp) admit when he's wrong. Of course, that means he'll probably either turn out to be a traitor or he'll be killed in two episodes, but hey...
I'm not really looking forward to a Chinese plot this season. I thought that was the worst part of last season, so to see it extended this year doesn't excite me.
You should watch the 10 minute season 4 'prequel' (on the season 3 DVD set).

What a kick-ass episode! I like the way they saved the "another mole in CTU" storyline by having him believe he was actually working for the government. I was crying foul when Walt mentioned that he had someone on the inside..."Shit, not again" was said by my wife and I at the same time. And is that really Walt that's sending Michael messages? Why did the Others take him? Oh wait, damn, getting my 2 favorite shows mixed up.
Is there somewhere that I can download next week's teaser? I missed it.

God Jack is a bad-ass.
Am I the only one who purposely doesn't want to watch the teasers after each episode? I like to go in knowing NOTHING about the upcoming hour.

I'm inclined to think it's just professional difficulties between Buchanon and Lynn, but with this being 24, it wouldn't surprise me if there was some sort of personal soap opera BS between the two.
