"Emily's Reasons Why Not" Already Cancelled

Don't understand why a talented (and incredibly hot) actress like HEather Graham has to even get involved in this kind of crap.

My guess is that she did the pilot for the check and didn't expect it to get picked up. But when it did, the wheels started turning to get her out of the deal.

Hahaha, how can people ever bash a show based on a pilot? A pilot is never representative of what a show is actually like. I actually thought the pilot was pretty good considering how bad pilots usually are. It was definitely better than any other comedy ABC has.

Has ABC ever canceled a show after just one airing before?

Hell, even Fox usually gives a show 2 episodes!

I'm waiting for the first instance of a show being pulled halfway into the pilot.

Hell, I'm sure Fox is going to start cancelling shows before the pilot is even written.

So are they also canceling 'Jake 2.0'?

(Still surprised they gave that a second season).

ABC did cancel that one reality show "Welcome to the Neighborhood" before it ever aired.

had to reread that a few times because Jake 2.0 was a show on UPN which I watched. I think Jake in progress is also gone as it did even worst in the ratings. With ABC doing so well with its dramas, I can imagine that they are going be quick with the cancellation trigger (though they will have more timeslots on Mondays next year because MNF goes away). Still, they probably will do another hospital drama and a housewife knockoff. Sitcoms are not doing well for whatever reason.

I'm referring to the fact that many people are excited about ABC possibly picking up the show from the evil FOX (which has kept in on the air for 2.5 years now).

Because most of them are highly predictable and have been done a thousand times. The sitcoms that tend to succeed the best are the ones that tend to bring something new to the table.

They did with Clerks the Animated Series. The show was pretty much toast after the first episode, but I think two episodes aired.

They never really gave Nothing Sacred a great shot at success either, another incredible show hardly anybody watched.

Didn't that one suffer from boycotts? I recall something about the Catholic priest taking the teenage girl to an abortion clinic or something. It was a great show though.

then why is it that in dramas, the CSI and Law and Order Clones are doing so well? They are highly predictable and have been beaten to death ... but people like them. I think the hour long shows like housewives, boston legal, Las Vegas have fused comedy into their shows that traditional sitcoms are being crowded out. However, sitcoms that are too quirky in order to stand out may limit their audience (i.e. Arrested Development). Still, I think televison goes through cycles and the sitcoms will return.

But back on topic, Emily's reasons was really bad, predictable and not funny so I am not surprised at the quick hook.
