Anyone remember this TV movie?
I beleive it aired in the mid to late 70's and might have been one of those ABC after school special movies or something.
The plot was, two young teen figure skaters who dislike each other get paired up anyway and wind up being a great team and then start to kind of fall for each other even though he's popular at school and she's a "geek". On the way back from a competition in Colorado(?) the snow has closed the highway so he suggests they take a "short-cut" to get home. Their VW bug(?) goes off this remote road and they get stuck in the middle of nowhere. The only food they have is a package or Oreo cookies. After a day or so the boy goes off for help. She gets rescued but he winds up in the hospital (frostbite?). She brings him Oreos but his real girlfriend who is there with him doesn't get the reference and thinks the skater girl is a dork (he defends her). In the end he dies from some accident or other (sad stuff, at least for me at the time) and the final (eponymous) scene is him running through an airport shouting their (last) names, to get her attention and to say "hey, we're a great team, I really like you". Their names were "Scoggins" and "Oglethorpe". Anyone recall what this movie is? Thanks for helping :) -Gunshy |
