Anyone see this game show? They touted it as a smash hit in every country in the world and every planet in the solar system except for the U.S.

Howie Mandel is host.

Pretty simple rules.

26 numbered briefcases (each held by a lovely model).
Each case contains a money amount ranging from $.01 to $1 million.
Contestant selects one case for themselves.
Contestant then picks 5 cases to be opened and the amount shown, narrowing the field down.
The Banker offers the contestant money for the case. Lowball at first.
If it's No Deal, the contestant must pick 5 more cases to be revealed.
Banker offers another amount for contestant's case, could be higher or lower depending on which amounts have already been shown.
It goes on like that until there is just the contestant's case and 1 other case OR until contestant takes Banker's deal.

It was kind of interesting, but seems like it could get old quickly.

That was the most longest most boringest hour of my life. Howie sucked and looked like a crackhead with the bald head and doodoo peice under his lip.
The show is so so so so so so SLOW. This thing will get its little trial episodes that NBC bought because their head of programing saw his own sister naked then the show will never see the light of day again. Let the holmless watch this show and I bet they go out and get a job.

This show played out like some sort of inverted Press Your Luck to me. Expect for the whammies, and, um, fun.

I would have stopped at $37k and sat down.

Yeah, I expected it to more than just opening suitcases. I wanted to smack that one lady for listening to her stupid family. They don't even own a house but they are turning down $138K for a "chance" to win $500K? :rolleyes:

The family kept saying they had a vibe about case #8 - idiots you are supposed to pick the cases that you don't have a good vibe about!

I picked 8 at the very beginning, so I guess I would have won $500K. ;)

The online game at NBC.com is actually pretty fun.

Yes, pretty boring show, in my opinion. Doesn't really require any skill of any kind... everyone was rather annoying (and I somewhat like Howie Mandel).

What a waste of an hour in my life. :boring:

his dancing was embarrassing to watch.

I liked it, the wife was ready to deal at 138k, but the hubby talked her out of it.

This show must be watched via DVR though.

Which, thankfully, is the only way I can watch it (since I work nights). I watched it this morning. It was a bit slow and tedious, but not the worst show I've ever seen. I'll probably DVR the rest of the week's episodes (if it doesn't conflict with other stuff I watch) just to see if anyone wins big. If NBC keeps this as a sweeps-type thing every few months (as Millionaire started out), it could probably work. But if NBC pulls an ABC/Millionaire with this (which I doubt they will), it wouldn't last long.

And, personally, I thought the woman on yesterday's show was more annoying than her husband.

I just loved laughing at her for not taking the $138K. That was hillarious. You don't own a house and you're going to turn down $138K free and clear.

An hour of opening briefcases...this HAS to be the most boring game show ever devised by man. I guess the supermodels distract us from the fact that not much is going on.

I predict a quick burnout for this show unless they come up with some new rules...like TOPLESS supermodels. ;)

Every time they would say no deal, Howie was like "Okay, but we have to open 5 more suitcases!" like that was some horrible thing. Now granted, your next offer could go down depending on what suitcases get opened, but it is not like it affects the case you already chose.

Did anyone play the online game? I "won" $303K and my suitcase only ended up containing $1000 so I guess that was good.

This show is just so easy though. I mean as long as you don't act too stubborn and ultimately take a deal at some point, you're pretty much guaranteed to win a good amount of money.

They really should have added another element, like another case that has a red stopper in it, and if you open that case, it ends the game an you have to take what is in your case and go home. You really have no disintentive to keep opening cases other than uncovering all the big ticket prices and lowering the bank's offer.

I agree with you completely Jadzia... but I thought for sure she was going to take the deal after she said "Honey, you make the decisions when we're at home... but we're not at home."

She would have had $138K.

I would have been slapping that button for that $138K offer.

I think it will get interesting when there are big $$ choices left and the deal gets bigger.

Looks like the deal is pretty simple, sum all the money divide by the number of cases.

Could be a good one week show 4 times a year, or maybe tops a once a week show, but they have to get at least two contestants per hour on there to move things along.

Looks like they sped it up a little for the guy who is playing now...Probably because it's the end of the hour, but I bet they will speed it up a little now that people know how it works...

I don't know if I could sit though an hour of this - one contestant per show is plenty. That 1st woman never seemed to realize, and even Howie mentioned it, that this is a game of odds. The odds that she had the big money, or was going to pick the big money were way too long to give up 138K. Greed is not good.

Like someone said, not sure how you could watch this without a DVR... Fun to watch Howie Mandel's germ-a-phobia.. doing the punching fist thing with people instead of shaking their hands

Awesome, a show that preys on people not knowing what the phrase "Expected Value" means.

When Howie said something like "you have to take the odds into consideration here" and she turned down $138,000 for a one in four chance at getting $500,000 (a chance which is worth $125,000 mathematically, right?) I had to laugh. The models were attractive enough that I might watch some of it tonight.

These people don't know how to figure out odds

Have to ride it out at this point. Even if you pick another high case here.
