Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
Sorry for the bump but Chris Gore has a Kickstarter campaign going on to create a documentary about AOTS and G4 called "Attack of the Doc."
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...g4-documentary Check it out, if you're so inclined. I'm a contributor (a Kickstarter first for me). It'd be fun to see it made. |
Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
Apparently, no one left on this board is interested. In case anyone has a passing interest the project got funded and hit a couple stretch goals. One of those goals was funding travel outside of California to interview past members of AOTS, like Sara Underwood lives in the Pacific Northwest.
Doc should be ready next year, first screening in July. |
Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
Sounds like it could be good. I really enjoyed G4 and before that TechTV. |
Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
I wish I had known about this. I would have donated. It looks like it's too late now, but I'll buy a copy of it.
|
Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
Yeah I wish I had known so I could have donated. I still have a soft spot for G4 and occasionally watch the reruns of things like X-Play and Judgement Day.
|
Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
He needed a stretch goal to be able to travel (even just up to PNW) for interviews? What would it have been if that goal wasn't reached, just him and Kevin P shooting the shit?
|
Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
I think they'd have a lot more support for a TechTv / The Screen Savers documentary.
I really enjoyed TechTV and before that ZDTV. Once it became G4, it all went downhill. |
Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
Yeah, wake me when there is a Screen Savers reunion or documentary. I'm also with Jacko. TechTV went to shit when it became G4.
|
Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
There was a pretty good fan-made video on YouTube. No interviews or anything like that. Just a compilation of old footage. But it brought back a lot of memories.

Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
I messaged Chris Gore on Twitter. He said they are going to start a Patreon so people that missed out on the Kickstarter can follow their progress. I'll probably sign up. Traveling with film crews can be expensive. Good camera operators get paid 350 plus per day. Production Assistants make at least 150 per day. Producers and Directors get more than that. Add in travel expenses and equipment rentals, it can really add up.

Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
I wonder if they'll get Layla Kaylee. I actually hear about her all the time, although a bit indirectly. I listen to her ex-husband's talk show on SiriusXM. They got divorced a couple years back and have a kid together. Comments about her tend to lean towards the negative side which isn't surprising given the situation.

Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
I've heard some insinuations that Adam Sessler(spelling?) was a big coke head during his time on G4.

Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
So I guess the return of G4 was announced during ComicConAtHome a few weeks ago:
Not much actual information yet. The following video is unofficial but has links to twitter reactions from some of the old hosts and speculation about what platform G4 may return on. (maybe Peacock?) |
Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
Attack of the Show is returning this summer. I hope Olivia and Kevin return to host.

ON NOVEMBER 16, 2021 Los Angeles, CA – October 12, 2021 – G4, the content studio and network that unites creators and fandoms, announced today the network will officially return to consumers on linear television and through streaming services on November 16, 2021. Upon launch, G4 will debut linearly on the channel lineups of Verizon Fios, Cox, and Xfinity TV. The network will also stream on Philo and collaborate with Twitch on a multi-year promotional and commercial partnership through G4’s official Twitch channel. G4 will also continue to create channel-specific content across its social media platforms and YouTube. “Since the initial announcement of G4’s revival at Comic-Con @ Home last year, we’ve been in constant dialogue with our audience through the content we’ve produced,” said Russell Arons, President, G4. “We made a promise to fans that we would build this network with their input and are proud to say that our promise has been kept. At G4, we never stopped playing and can’t wait to have our fans join us in our hilarious and fairly preposterous sandbox on November 16.” “G4 was a pioneer for video games on television for twelve years, long before businesses were focused on gaming. The credibility that comes with that cannot be manufactured,” said Josh Cella, Chief Revenue Officer, G4/Spectacor Gaming. "As we gear up to launch, we are excited to unlock our portfolio of talent, creative marketing platforms, interactive programming and an innovative distribution model for business partners." G4 programming will be produced and delivered through a first-of-its-kind 24/7 broadcast studio, featuring a collaborative workplace and professional esports and gaming environment. Designed by global architectural firm Populous, the studio is located in Burbank, California. Other notable design projects from Populous include Yankee Stadium, Red Bull HQ, and Esports Stadium Arlington. G4’s programming slate at launch will include a wide range of content, including new editions of beloved legacy G4 shows, exclusive content, top interviews, and more, including:
Joining G4 for its official launch is an eclectic mix of notable talent from the gaming and entertainment industries, including returning G4 hosts Kevin Pereira and Adam Sessler; esports personalities Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez (host of NBC’s Titan Games), Ovilee May, and Froskurinn; WWE Superstar Xavier Woods AKA Austin Creed; Youtube personalities Kassem G, Jirard “The Completionist” Khalil, The Black Hokage, and Gina Darling; Popular Twitch streamers Fiona Nova and Will Neff; rising vStreamer CodeMiko; and a degenerate rat-puppet named Ratty. About G4 G4 is the content studio and network that unites creators and fandoms to celebrate comedy, gaming and popular culture. Authentic to its legendary roots, G4 returns later this year with classic shows and brand-new original content driven by a passion to entertain, unite and inspire gaming’s enthusiastic and diverse communities. Based in Los Angeles and available everywhere gamers congregate, G4 is committed to bringing the industry together through content, commerce, and experiences that set a new standard for gaming innovation, inclusion, and accessibility. Reinvented by Comcast Spectacor’s Spectacor Gaming division, owner and operator of a growing portfolio of gaming and esports assets including Overwatch League’s Philadelphia Fusion and T1 Entertainment & Sports, G4 is also connected to and inspired by the technology and creativity of Comcast NBCUniversal. Attack of the show is back Tuesday, November 16th If you don't have any of the cable services G4 is on, they will be streaming the channel live on YouTube and Twitch Monday through Friday.
I'm a little disappointed that Olivia isn't coming back after she was in negotiations to return, but she's pregnant with a chaotic personal life right now.... |
Re: Attack of the Show appreciation thread
I used to follow tht Kassem G guy and remember him posting some relatively funny man on the street interview videos so I wonder if they will use him for that.
The Neff guy’s name sounds familiar too. |

Can they not launch an App or something? "Cable services" is literally why G4 didn't exist anymore.
