Joey - "Joey and the Tijuana Trip/Joey and the Christmas Party" - 12/15/05

wow.

I really thought this show had hit rock bottom three months ago but this was a new low.

"Joey and his two male co-stars go to Tijuana for a drunken night of revelry and wake up to find Joey married to one of the guys."

What a premise. This might have been funny in 1972.

"Gina and Alex decide to make Joey get out of his Mexican 'gay marriage' by forcing them to embarass themselves on videotape"

Not only was this not funny, it was a slap in the face to any gay person who ever wanted to get married. Do the writers even know who their audience watching this crap is??? I doubt many straight dudes are sitting home to see what new madcap antics Joey is up to on Thursday nights.

In this second half of this special hour long landmark episode somehow the writers manage to turn the first 20 minutes of crap into a reason for Alex to finally admit to Joey she loves him. Sure why not, after a year and a half of slow careful buildup in their relationship, its all been leading up to this.

What a mess! Dear lord, put this show out of its misery!

I thought it was alright.

The ending had the feel of a season finale though.

I couldn't take it. After this was on for 15 mins. or so I realized that I wasn't even paying enough attention to it to know what was actually going on. And I had no incentive to try.
I watched something off the DVR instead.

I'm a straight male, and I've watched every week.

The relationship between Joey and Alex is following the same old Friends formula. Person A pines for Person B for months and months, Person B finally finds out about Person A's feelings and decides to reciprocate but by that time Person A is with someone else, so Person B is now the person pining until Person A finds out.

Yup. Same here.
I tape the show every week. It's not appointment tv for me, but I still get a couple of laughs out of it every week. That's fine with me.

I laughed quite a lot last night.

I might be one of the only few left who enjoy the show for what it is.... which ain't much.

It's gonna be a long wait until March.

I'm a straight male, and I've watched every week as well.

Anyway, I thought the two-parter, mainly the second episode, was great. Lots of fun. And, I agree they are using the Friends formula, which is why I enjoyed it.

They need to get Joey and Alex together by the end of the season, or hell, even wed for a Friends wedding season (...or series...) finale.

I thought they were both good episodes. I laughed quite a few times, and they've been "building" the Joey/Alex thing since the beginning of this season, so it didn't feel rushed to me at all.

I do like this show, and I thought these had some funny moments in them, but Alex/Joey is DEFINITELY starting to feel WAY too Ross/Rachel for me. Hook em up or move on already!

Suuuuuuure you're straight.

The relationship between Joey and Alex is following the same old Friends formula. I still love the show. Too bad it seems I'm in the minority there. The first half of this episode was way better than the second half IMO. I believe I saw at the beginning that they were written by different writers.

I honestly don't know why so many people hate this show - other than the fact it's a spin-off of one of the greatest shows ever and will always be unfairly compared to Friends.

Typical in the mode of Friends, two-parters are always "written" by different people.

Well truth be told if this show hadn't have spun off from Friends, it sure would have been cancelled by now... and certainly not in that cherry timeslot. They've been trying to renovate the show since the start of this season and all we've seen is a new house Joey has YET to move into and a new black best friend who isn't funny. The show is no better than any other schlocky 3-camera sitcom on the air right now. I mean, I watch it, but I'm not gonna miss it during its "hiatus".

I enjoyed both episodes more, but the first half had more laughs. Really liked how Michael's "date" didn't like how he looked when she was sober. Thought the video gag was pretty funny.

Joey and Alex need to get together, period.
