The Office: UK/USA Showdown, Part II - Finchy vs. Packer

The Wernham-Hogg/Dunder-Mifflin Human Resources Department's initiative to create The Ultimate Office Staff now continues.

We started off the showdown with an amazingly tight battle between two major characters, Gareth vs. Dwight. So now we'll take a breather with the matchup of two equally revolting minor characters...

Chris "Finchy" Finch

vs.

Todd "Fudge" Packer

Vote for your favorite and tell us why your pick should be part of...The Ultimate Office Staff.

I'm going with Finchy on this one...mainly for his hilariously petty attempt to win a TRIVIA contest by proving he could throw a shoe over a building.

There is no choice at this point, Finchy blows away the Packer.

If I was hiring one of these two salesmen, I'd prefer Finchy.

Finch left me cold, and his appearance involving the shoe is a large part of why I haven't seen more of the UK version than I have -- that episode bored my wife so badly she refuses to watch any more of the show (she loves the US version, btw).

Beyond that, David Koechner has the power to make me laugh just by being on screen. He has ever since I saw him on SNL. I take Packer.

Finchy! Without a doubt.

"One up the bum, no harm done"
"Nearly done" <--- a more obscure Finchy quote.

I can't stand Packer, while Finchy was usually just an annoyance that occasionally made me laugh.

Packer has made only a slight appearence so far in the Office. Finch was awesome, though. Finch and David (more slight over Michael) are probably the only people I prefer from the UK series over the US.

I think this is a bit unfair since we've barely seen Packer on the US series.

However, I went with Packer on the note that I'm a huge fan of David Koechner.

This is no contest. Packer's been in 2 episodes. We've barely gotten to know the guy(aside from him being a William Hung fan ).

I voted for Finch. Too bad Michael Scott will never get to tell Packer to "f-ck off".

Both are obnoxious pricks, but Finchy runs away with this one.

(Packer just hasn't been on enough to really stand a chance against the original yet.)

Finch. No contest. He's humorously annoying, whereas Packer is just annoying. Plus, Packer's been on screen for what, all of 5 minutes?

This one's no contest because we just haven't seen enough of Packer yet.

President Muffley, we are ready for The Office Showdown Part III.

We'll alternate major character/minor character...so I promise the next one will be one of the four leads. But part of the charm of "The Office" is the supporting cast. In both the UK and US versions, the minor cast members are so fully realized that they sort of become the glue between the major charcters. It makes for a complete office "world" that most us of know is way too close to reality for comfort. And that's why we love it.

That is why Packer just comes off as a tool. Everyone else is somewhat grounded in reality.

I don't care if the next is a major or minor character, it's just that this is a blow-out and already decided, so bring on the next one.

I wonder how many people are voting without having seen the UK version and vote US characters by default. I voted Finchy, god what a prick. The only character I'd probably vote US would be Pam over Dawn, and probably Kevin over Keith.

Although Keith introducing himself to the hot chick was the funniest single word ever uttered on television. "Keith."
