Arrested Development Continuity Question

Banana stand: burned down in the second episode, and back in episode 6. What gives?

JTH182 12-09-05 03:28 AM

They rebuilt it

Quake1028 12-09-05 03:33 AM

I figured that, but was it ever mentioned?

Tscott 12-09-05 03:53 AM

Yes. At the end of episode 2 they are seen rebuilding it because they realized it's the only thing the Bluths owned that made any money. (I just started rewatching the first season tonight so it's fresh in my mind).

Quake1028 12-09-05 04:41 AM

Damn, I missed that. Not only did I miss them doing it, I missed them talking about it.

Quake1028 12-09-05 05:14 AM

Ahhh, I see why I missed it. It was on the "next week on...." segment, and I skipped over that for that specific episode. My bad folks :).

Never, never, never skip over the "On the next Arrested Development" parts when watching this show. Are you crazy?

Jackskeleton 12-09-05 05:55 AM

no kidding, next thing you know you'll be blaming Fox for making them skip On the Next.. segments. Those really need to always be watched.

Quake1028 12-09-05 06:39 AM

Well, to be fair, I only skipped it so nothing in the next episode would be ruined for me, as this is my first time through the series. I see these previews are a little different than other shows though.

Michael Corvin 12-09-05 07:27 AM

Exactly they have nothing (sorta) to do with the next episode. It is kind of like a .5 episode. Stuff that happens between each episode. They do reveal some BIG things in those previews so do pay attention. :)

On with the show!

There's money in that Banana Stand.

dgmayor 12-09-05 08:23 AM

No Touching!

Cusm 12-09-05 08:52 AM

Come On!

mdc3000 12-09-05 09:07 AM

If you skip the "next on" you're missing out on a good chunk of what makes AD so brilliant... Watching will only ENHANCE your viewing, certainly not ruin anything.... You've made a huge mistake.

I think there was only one episode that actually showed something that happens in the next episode - otherwise, it's always a joke.

no kidding, next thing you know Jackskeleton will pop into this thread to defend FOX even though it has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

rotfl

You skipped one of the best part of AD for the risk of spoilers!!!???!! rotfl  rotfl

I mean...

Really there aren't spoilers on those segments. Feel free to watch them.

MrBob 12-09-05 10:28 AM

I think the only episodes that actually show footage from the next show are those with maggie Lizer. Hell quite possibly the best joke on the show occured during the last episode of "On the Next Arrested Developement" segment.

majorjoe23 12-09-05 10:30 AM

The banana stand thing bothered me a little because George Sr. kept money in it, but we later find out that it's an annual tradition to drop it in the bay. Why would George Sr. line the walls of something with money that gets destroyed so often?

Haven't you ever heard of money laundering? :hscratch:

Michael Corvin 12-09-05 11:09 AM

I gotta hand it to the writers, they know where to stuff all the jokes.

redskull 12-09-05 12:24 PM

Reno 911 does this same thing with their "Next week on..." clips. Most of the time the clips have nothing to do with the next episode and resolve storylines from the current one.

Oh man, we can't have that. I mean why can't we all bash Fox for no reason, right?

There's some important events done in the next segments such as buster losing his hand that they work as an extension to a joke and seldom, if ever, work as spoilers for the next episode.

Since the original poster has said they are watching this for the first time and are trying to avoid spoilers you might want to edit that post to include spoiler tags.

Seriously, I just assumed the "previews" were like 24 or Prison Break where they basically spoil everything in the next episode.
