My Name Is Earl -- "White Lie Christmas" -- 12.06.2005

As the holiday season comes under way a few secrets are exposed when Earl (Jason Lee) attempts to cross number seventy-four off of his list: “always ruined Joy’s Christmas.” Earl, Randy (Ethan Suplee), and Catalina (Nadine Velazquez) enter a radio contest to win a brand new car for Joy (Jaime Pressly) to make up for all of the thoughtless Christmas presents Earl gave her while they were married. While Randy and Catalina vie over the car, Earl finds out that Joy’s parents believe that he’s still their son-in-law and that he’s just returned from the war in Iraq. Joy is afraid to tell her father, an alleged racist, that she is now married to Darnell (Eddie Steeples), so Earl plays the part, afraid of ruining another one of her Christmases.

This could be great.

Sounds like a winner to me!

Joy = comedy gold.


And this is coming from someone who absolutely despised Jaime Pressly until she got this role. She's good in this show. "Emmy" good.

Can't wait.

Last week was a repeat.

Well, two weeks ago. The one about his dad and the election.

last week was 2 hours of fat people.

Is that the new hip way of saying it jumped the shark?

No, last week was the season finale of The Biggest Loser, which took priority over Earl. :(

This is just the first commercial break, and I am already busting a gut. :lol:

This was the first episode that I didnt really care for.

"Oh God! A Negro!" :lol:

Overall, a light, okay episode, not a lot of big LOL moments, but it did build on the opening premise. Good thing Crab-man and Joy weren't related (I hope!).

Catalina without a SS card...who knew? :)

Not the funniest 'Earl' by a longshot. But a cute episode.

Joy in the sexy little "Santa" outfit = :drool: Too bad it was only a few seconds.

"You Thelma's boy?"

This episode stank of the network demanding a Christmas episode and the writers just not having much in the tank for it. I can only hope that they at least have the actors who play Joy's parents prepped for a future appearance that can make use of the comedy gold that can only come from Brett Butler and the guy who played Farmer Fran in The Waterbody together.

Maybe not to you, but in American it means "Christmas" in Mexican.

I'll be the dissenter here. I loved it. Every minute of it. The montage of Joy's dad with all the women in the bed store was fantastic. Catalina jumping up and down telling Earl and Randy she had to blow..... off work (Randy's reaction was priceless). Giving the thumbs up between the guys legs. The "Step into my office, you're fucking fired!" guy from There's Something About Mary making a cameo as the radio host.

I could go on, but you all saw it so there's no point. Bottom line is I thought it was great and will definitely be on my annual list of Christmas shows to watch.

Joy's butt was looking good in this episode.

I missed the first five minutes...why was Earl trying to get the car for Joy?

Great moments were already mentioned, but I also loved the part about Catalina being weak in the sun while trying to hold on to the car, and that was surprising considering she spent four hours on a raft coming to America. Funny stuff! And then her whole flubbing up when asked for her social security number!

And a guest appearance by Harland Williams!
