The agent with the glasses annoys the hell out of me. Someone please shoot him.

das Monkey 11-29-05 01:56 AM

I'm completely shocked they didn't escape tonight. I never, ever would have expected that.

Had the first season not been extended beyond the original 13 episodes, I'm pretty sure that new duct would not of been there.

And the VP's brother is alive? That's weird.

That sub-plot is not supposed to make any sense on a week-to-week basis. Or is it supposed to be any good on a week-to-week basis. Throw anything to do w/ common sense out of the window. Handing over the envelope? No. Defend yourself from certain death so that you can grow old w/ your wife and kid? No.

My theory is that the VP IS her brother. They are one and the same.

That new duct was a crappy end to the worst episode of the season. Screw 24, it's not like that show will have anything new to offer. See Jack. See problem. See Jack solve problem in 24 hours. I wish they'd end the show right. Hour 12, 34 minutes: Jack dies after slipping in the shower. BYE JACK. :fc:

Robin Tunney wouldn't have a gun? Did she learn nothing from Paparazzi?

And that wasn't Mike Jones, was it?? :D

March :(

Sums it up for me too. Good acting, some suspense, but for a big "fall finale" (i.e. last show for 3+ months) I guess I expected a little more, a twist or major breakthrough at some point (like her getting the envelope or them on their way out). VERY cool 24 preview, though!

dadaluholla 11-29-05 08:35 AM

I thought it was a good episode. It definitely left me wanting to see more...which was the point of the whole thing.

Oh and YEAH the 24 previews just keep looking better and better!!! HOW DID YOU GET THIS NUMBER!?!? January is going to be great month with the Shield coming back too! YOW!

Groucho 11-29-05 08:47 AM

Pretty disappointing. I was expecting something bigger for the "fall finale."

I love how earlier in the season they needed Abruzzi for transportation, but when that falls through C-Note solves the problem with a five-minute phone call.

No shit. Or shoot his partner right when he gets out of the car since he has to know that he is going to get shot if he doesn't.

If there is a god, can he just make the Men-in-Black conspiracy somebody's dream when it comes back in March.

Then you have the bruthas who park right outside the prison gate to pick up the escapees. rotfl

Michael sacrificed his toe, because he doesn't know anyone with a conspicuous Escalade to park out in front of the prison.

Between that scene and the showdown over the "3 sheets", this episode was just plain stupid. I love how this guy was so desperate to protect his pregnant wife that he took time to pack up their house and meet some lady in a dark alley instead of showing up for work. Not like they'd notice or anything.

das

chrisih8u 11-29-05 09:37 AM

And how did the SS agent know where the meet was? Did he tell his wife the exact alley he was going to?

Groucho 11-29-05 09:44 AM

Also, I fail to see how that envelope of information would be useful this close to the execution.

LAWYER: "Your honor, I'd like to request a stay of execution."

JUDGE: "On what grounds?"

LAWYER: "Well, you see...I have startling new evidence. [Dramatic Pause] A list of names!"

JUDGE: "Whoopdi-fucking-do. Fry him, boys."

Patman 11-29-05 09:45 AM

If SS Paul was smart he'd probably GPS'd his clueless partner's cell phone.

das Monkey 11-29-05 11:30 AM

"Oh, look, my creepy partner who threatened to kill me is calling. I guess I'll ignore that so he comes looking for me."

das

lukewarmwater 11-29-05 11:31 AM

I get the feeling they write the episodes after they shoot them.

Patman 11-29-05 11:35 AM

That's sort of how Marvel used to put comics together, an artist would draw the pages from an outline, and then the writer would pop in the word balloons for the dialogue.

I'd hardly call that "solving the problem". Abruzzi supposedly had a private jet waiting to go, C-Note arranged a couple guys in a SUV (how many people do those hold, anyway?).

Well, they were going for a stay of execution at this point, not completely overturning the verdict. I imagine that a detailed story of what happened, and who was involved, not to mention potential evidence that the murder victim is actually not dead, would be enough to provide enough doubt so that it could be further investigated. Of course, the other SS guy has the envelope now, so it's moot.

Still a whole lot of stupid stuff in this episode, though...

- Veronica decides to go to the media with nothing but a vague promise of evidence, and Mr. Project Justice doesn't mention that it may be a bad idea? Gee, let's let the whole world know that we've got an inside source who's about to spill the beans before he actually does it.

- I still don't buy the whole "getting up the shaft" thing. My biggest beef is that Michael climbed up that rope with the other end attached only to a metal grate lying loose on the floor of the supply room, which would have most likely been pulled at least over to the hole when somebody tried to climb up, and most likely have been pulled completely through. Also, I don't do a whole lot of rope climbing, but wouldn't it be pretty tough, if not impossible, for somebody to get a good enough grip on a rope that small to actually climb up?

das Monkey 11-29-05 12:51 PM

Wasn't Veronica in dire peril a few episodes back? Now I guess she's just freely running around town granting interviews and dropping by the prison?

das

dadaluholla 11-29-05 12:56 PM

This show has always been dumb, but its fun so I don't really mind.

Nothing was worse for me though when the Secret Service guys left the one evil guy down in the hole alive and just covered him up with some leaves and branches or whatever. You know HE'S not going to come back.

Chew 11-29-05 12:58 PM

As much as there's a lot of logic leaps in this show, I'll give them a pass on the Veronica part. She feels she'll be safe in the company of media, cameras and prison guards. Plus, it's all worth the risk to prove her boyfriend is innocent.

Couldn't they just gun her down at/outside the hospital then?
