Surface 11/21/05
Rich and Laura see first-hand the eggs being laid by the new species. They even find their way from being stuck down in the depths, though I have no idea how their eardrums survived the ascent up to the surface.
Miles is probably in over his head, he provided quite a few nibbles for Nim's brethren in the sea. Is there anything redeemable about Lee? |
Pretty decent episode tonight.
Miles would have never survived an attack from that many creatures. One creature totally ravaged that one dude towards the beginning, and Nim fried the shit out of that animal worker a few weeks back. Miles should be a goner. And how the hell does anyone/anything expect to survive an 'alien' takeover on this scale. The few creatures that already exist have disrupted the oceans balance in only six months. Add thousands and thousands more, nothing will survive. Who is Lee again? Totally enjoying this show. W The previews for next weeks look really good, especially Laura and Rich flying through the air after being hit from underneath the liferaft. |
Lee is the bad guy, has Asian heritage, and a closely cropped haircut.

Wish they'd eaten the kid, but other than that, finally something is happening.
Here's hoping this is a one season show, however. I don't think it's worth spreading this out over multiple years. I figure they have a good shot to cave in or block up the hole those suckers are in. Only real way to knock out a bunch of them, because, as mentioned above, if a few of them can rock the ecosystem and take out subs and such, then those kind of umbers would be unrealistic to tackle. Perhaps I'm looking at this too logically. Maybe the kid will have a psychic link and tell them to be nice or something. Maybe he'll become Iron Man....... |
Good episode (even if that hour of air did seem like a full day everywhere else). Who's the Mystery Gardner in the Hat that Lee (now that I know his name - thanks, Patman!) keeps talking to?
|
I have no idea who's the mystery gardner dude who's pulling all the strings.

So was that Nim at the end or not?
And Rich & Laura hitting the surface faster than Greg Evigan did in Deep Star Six. -ohbfrank- |
How the hell were they communicating? She kept talking into that handset -- how were they transmitting/receiving? The cable was cut and so they had lost their direct comms link to the boat. And that leaves radio but surely everyone knows that you can't transmit most radio signals through ocean water, right? Unless they were using military class VLF/ELF transmitters, right? Everyone knows that, right? Except hollywood hacks, right?
And that had to be a world's record ascent from the ocean bottom. They did it in what, five seconds? And how were they not freezing their butts off? They're at the ocean's bottom where water temp hovers just above freezing and I'm sure that tub had no heater. |

Surface requires one squint through quite a bit of "logic" in order to enjoy it as mindless television entertainment. |

Yes, it was Nim in the closet. Why else would a random creature get into the kid's room? Please, those fishermen beat the snot out of him, so of course he's ticked and sore.
|
Another psychotic VP on another show on Monday nights? What are the odds?
