Masters of Horror -Jennifer- 11/18/05
Are we already losing viewers already? Thought this would've been covered earlier.
*The MOH site was down at the moment so I couldn't put down a snyposis for this show. Sorry*
A few flaws, predictable, but a big improvment over last week's show. I really would've wished we could've had a little backstory on Jennifer herself
Sadly, didn't get to see no Argento hands doing any killings, but at least the music was similar to Bird w/ Crystal Plumage to let fans know who made this episode.

Show premieres on Friday and repeats Saturday and Sunday.
I thought this was the best ep so far. Yes, it was a bit predicatable, but this is a showcase for the directors and Argento was in top form, so I can forgive that (besides written by Steven Weber...wtf?)

I have been watching the series with a couple of friends of mine, and we all agreed that this is the best episode so far. It was just more disturbing than any of the others, even though it made me laugh a couple of times.
I thought that it was interesting that this is the only ep that was deemed necessary to cut: http://www.fangoria.com/news_article.php?id=5064.
Not to say that I didn't think the direction was good, but I was surprised that I did not see too many really flashy Argento shots. I guess the only one that comes to mind is at the beginning when that one guy's face was reflected in the blade. But the music was totally Argento, as someone above already said. I wonder if Argento's hands were used in the final shot.

Very predictable, but also very fucked up. I think it started off fantastic and was really creepy, but then it got a little closer to "funny disturbed" than "creepy disturbed". Nonetheless, it was at least some kind of disturbed, which is better than what we've seen so far. Good stuff.
I wonder if Weber's teleplay contributed to the numerous gratuitous sex scenes. He got 4 in one hour, right? That's like porno.

I dug it. Nice to see a disturbing horror story (even if it is predictable, the ending is still fitting) with many of the things that made 80's horror great.
Oh, damn that girl had one helluva body. Talk about a butterface.

Sad to read that it was cut by the network. I thought that was the whole reason Showtime was doing this series...to be uncut & let the "masters" run wild???
I have enjoyed every episode so far. Although none have been really scary they all have been creepy. Kind of reminds me of that old 70's magazine of the same name.

I am in the minority, but this was one of the worst, if not the worst, episodes. The gore was great, but the story was completely lacking. Sex, kill, sex, sex, eat, sex, penis bite, sex, kill, eat.
It had absolutely no depth at all, and Argento completely blew it by showing as much as he possibly could of the woman's face. This could have been a great episode, considering the disfigurement of the woman, but it barely reached mediocrity.
Don Coscarelli's "Incident On and Off a Mountain Road" absolutely smoked this episode in every way, shape and form. And even Hoopers "Dance of the Dead," with it's shitty MTV editing had a better story than "Jennifer".
And where the hell was the great camera work Argento is known for? I certainly didn't see any of it.
This was certainly not the Argento I've come to know and love.

Showtimes are hypocrites for this kind of shit. They did some cutting of the some of the more graphic sex scenes for their original series Queer as Folk and then do some pruning for this - come on, HBO doesn't enact this type of 'censoring' . I had read in Fangoria, that one stipulation that Showtime mandated was that no male nudity was to incorporated into the films, female nudity - good, male nudity - bad! BTW, what did they cut?

I'm all for limiting male nudity as much as possible. The only time a male should be allowed nude on TV is when there is a naked female in the same scene. To make up for the male nudity she must also be hot.
