'CSI: Miami' to reveal secret on Web

'CSI: Miami' to reveal secret on Web

LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Fans watching "CSI: Miami" on Monday will learn a secret destined to affect a major plotline in CBS' hit drama series. But it will not be broadcast -- the pivotal development will be shown only on CBS.com.

"This exclusive Web scene between Ryan Wolfe and Erica Sikes contains a dramatic revelation about someone in our lab -- a revelation that threatens to tear the team apart, and will lead to a shocking conclusion at the end of our season," "CSI: Miami" executive producer Ann Donahue said.

In the online extension to the episode, titled "Urban Hellraisers," Amy Laughlin's character shares a crucial piece of information with Jonathan Togo's character, setting in motion an undercover investigation.

The online disclosure is being characterized as a bonus scene and will debut immediately after the East Coast broadcast Monday at 10 p.m. ET. Donahue said the online exclusive is a reward for the show's loyal fans.

... I for one think that this is a cool idea. As a web guy, its nice to see them try to integrate the web in with the show. Not sure how successful they'll be, but its worth a shot. Sounds like those who catch the extra clip will see another level to the show, while casual watchers will remain aloof.

to the idea.

I like watching TV on a TV. I can't bring myself to get excited about having to go upstairs and watch a pivotal plot point in a stuttery, tiny window on my PC.

This is fine for all of us that actually would watch it, but I'm guessing 9 out of 10 typical viewers would never see it.

My apologies for throwing out the smilie... sometimes I get sick of one word answers when a few words might better illustrate your counterpoint.

So why do you think its a stupid idea?

"It's not a stupid gimmick to get people to watch Monday's episode during Sweeps and increase traffic to CBS.com. It's a bonus ... for the fans. Yeah, that's the ticket!"
