More detailed episode description, courtesy snpp.com:

Spoiler:
8:00 • Treehouse of Horror XVI (GABF17)
What just might be the world's longest Halloween "or thereabouts" tradition returns for a 17th time, with:

* "B.I. Bartificial Intelligence" - Bart is replaced by a robot boy after lapsing into a coma
* "Survival of the Fattest" - "The World Series of Manhunter", hosted by Terry Bradshaw (who voices himself), with Mr. Burns behind the trigger and Homer in his sights
* "I've Grown a Costume on Your Face" - Timmy wishes that all Halloween costumes are real
no, wait, that's the The Fairly Oddparents Halloween special...
"I've Grown a Costume on Your Face" - hey, everybody's Halloween costume does become real, after a witch casts a spell during a costume contest, and only another witch - Maggie - can put things back to normal

Also, the show's commercials show Homer being possessed and undergoing some sort of exorcism

One day I hope the Halloween episode actually airs before Halloween.

Rockmjd23 11-06-05 07:09 PM

 "That's where stem cell research has led us?"

Doesn't the A.I. parody seem a few years... late?

And the second one... is that supposed to be a riff on "Battle Royale" or "Surviving the Game?"

Kind of weak so far. At least the final segment has something to do with Halloween/horror.

Richard Connell's 1924 short story "The Most Dangerous Game". It's been adapted in various forms and nicked in others many, many, many times.

lol @ moleman.

There's always 2010. October 31 is on a Sunday! We can hope. -cracker-

I'm a loyal Simpsons fan, but I found this TOH lacking. Still, some good jokes, especially Lenny's idea of heaven.

calhoun07 11-06-05 09:52 PM

Not as great as others, but not as bad as some either. I give it a B-

Snowmaker 11-06-05 10:14 PM

Apu-D2.

Bludvls33 11-06-05 10:51 PM

The hunt was humorous...watching Burns blow away one Springfield resident after another. :)

Other than that, I agree, a pretty weak TOH ep.

Roto 11-07-05 01:00 AM

I loved the intro ripping The World Series.

skatefan20 11-07-05 01:20 AM

"I'm Jerod from the Subway ads. I'm only a little overweight and sexually ambiguous." rotfl

MrX 11-07-05 02:14 AM

I didn't care for it.

Apu-D2 was the only thing I laughed at.

Rogue588 11-07-05 02:41 AM

I enjoyed it.

Halloween was on a Sunday this year, too. ;) Didn't stop them from moving it forward a week for November sweeps. They've been doing that for a few years and I doubt they'll change it. It still brings in ratings and it isn't so bad watching it a week after Halloween's already happened. Now if they started playing it in December...

Not too bad of an episode overall.

I loved Homer's "Exorcist" bit in order to stay home from work and Apu's line when he's shot by Mr. Burns and resurrected as a bunny that "You can't kill a Hindu" then he's caught in a trap and yells, "Ouch, help me Jesus".

I enjoyed the episode overall.

Count Dooku 11-07-05 04:42 AM

The baseball is boring opening was great, but after that --very few laughs.

Jackskeleton 11-07-05 05:01 AM

Baseball was decent, but it would have worked so much better last sunday.

After that... What the flying fuck. I usually enjoy the simpsons and take it for what it's worth. But this year it was just terrible. The first two segments didn't even seem worthy of being Halloween segments. As bad as the seasons have been lately, they could have actually been episodes in themselves.

The last one started off so well. It was funny and I thought it was going places but then it just... it just.. wow.. it just fuck'n blew up in our faces with suckage. I just couldn't believe it.

dhmac 11-07-05 06:26 AM

I liked Homer's response to Lisa when she said that she hates the zoo because she feels sorry for the animals:

Homer: "In the wild, they would never experience boredom, obesity, loss of purpose. You know, the American Dream."

Chew 11-07-05 06:36 AM

 to the opening

:down: to the rest. Some good smiles, but that's about it.

Wow, did you make it through high school English without ever once having to read "The Most Dangerous Game"?

I'd highly recommend that you track it down and take 10-15 minutes to read it... a really great short story. You can usually find it in "Intro to Literature" books as a classic example of plot.

EDIT: Or, you could just read it online. ;)
