SPOILERS

Spoiler:
"Someone will be LOST forever!" I f'ing HATE when they do that! It sooo annoying!

I would've been pissed off had I heard that. Of course, I'd be pissed off as well if it was written out with no spoiler tags. That's pretty annoying too.

The episode was above-average. Michelle Rodriguez is pretty cute. I liked the walk through the forest and the guys finding each other and the tense moment with the others passing by. I thought the backstory was decent.

What exactly about that line is a spoiler??? It doesn't mention anything about who, what, when, where, or why...which I think are pretty much main ingredients in information being shared. Ok maybe it does tell you "what" but still...

aktick 10-20-05 09:15 AM

Could it be that they just showed the Teddy Bear to make it appear as though there's a little kid among the 'others'?

cdollaz 10-20-05 09:17 AM

I like Jin and Sun's backstory. I hope it has a cool tie-in somewhere. So far, I think the most interesting backstory, other than Locke's, is Hurley just because of the numbers. Odd as I think Hurley is the least interesting character on the island because he is basically just a simpleton and there is nothing really interesting about his character (I think he owns the record for number of "dudes" ever said on TV). That said, it is correct to have someone like him on the island because there are a lot of Hurley's in the world. I just do not think he is interesting at all.

aktick 10-20-05 09:22 AM

So 5 episodes, and we haven't seen/heard the security system yet? The tail survivors don't seem to be worried about that, more about the "others." Maybe the area of the island where the tail survivors are is full of "others" that are sick, and the area where our original mid-section survivors are is protected by the SS? So the SS is actually a good thing? Just a guess.

Possibly.

Or it could be to make "The Others" - a group of supposed crazies who may or may not have skewered that one dead guy - seem even crazier if one of their ilk was lugging a teddy bear on a leash.

dadaluholla 10-20-05 09:26 AM

It would have been much cooler if that teddy bear would have been a polar bear!!!!

Big Boy Laroux 10-20-05 09:32 AM

ok, first off, Alex is a girl. we found that out last season.

second of all, i liked the episode, too. I'm really digging Mr. Echo, Eko, whatever. Michelle Rodriguez is getting on my nerves a little bit with her attitude, but it looks like she's softening up. Like when the blonde said, "his name is michael" and she responded. they obviously have severe trust issues. They must have had an infiltrator like ethan...

i really liked the flashback this episode. sure we didn't really learn a huge secret, but it was well-acted and just a good story overall. I liked the little twist with the girl in the orange dress. you keep looking for Sun to show up in Orange, but we get that scene. pretty good.

Yeah it tells me what, which was a bit annoying. I usually skip the previews for next week, don't watch commercials, etc. Normally don't even venture into the episode threads, but I wanted to see if anyone knew what the deal was with the 3 week wait. Probably should've just gone with a new post.

In general, there are people who come to these threads to discuss the current episode, and don't want to know ANYTHING about an upcoming episode. They specifically avoid the "next week" previews for this reason.

I don't think so. I think it is something else. They only had two dozen survivors. I think it would be pretty easy to spot someone just showing up in their camp. As opposed to "our" group, it would/was easy to sneak in amongst 45 survivers an not be noticed.

Josh H 10-20-05 10:00 AM

Good episode. Better than last weeks, since I don't care for Hurley's story.

Sucks we have to wait three weeks. Looks like the season is going to pick up when it comes back though.

Yeah, I thought that Danielle mentioned something that the other took her baby was a girl, so her full name might been Alexandria.

zuffy 10-20-05 10:50 AM

I agree, Michelle Rodriguez is annoying.

Did Jin ever gave that teddy bear to Sun? I can't remember if that bear was a gift alone with the puppy in last season's episode.

Big Boy Laroux 10-20-05 10:52 AM

good point, michael corvin. unless it happened right away. i mean, do we even know exactly when ethan showed up? he could have been there since the crash, but we only saw him once locke befriended him.

What I am getting annoyed with, in terms of the writing, is the constant skirting around really specific, but simple, questions like asking the other survivors "why are you so on edge?" and "what happened to the rest of your group?" These things are brought up and promptly ignored without any real reason for ignoring a perfectly valid question. I would be pulling my hair out wanting to know what is wrong with these people if I were in the place of Jin, Michael or Sawyer, but they seem content to be ignored. I don't mind if information isn't given out immediately (I know that's pretty much the whole point of the show) but I at least like to have a rational reason as to why that easy question can't be answered right away.

I agree. These "cryptic answers" to half asked questions is annoying as hell.

Otherwise, I was one of the people that enjoyed this flashback. As for the rest of the episode, it was ok. Little slow. Not enough Kate for my taste.
Guess I can find something else to watch for 3 weeks.

Patman 10-20-05 11:06 AM

Like Veronica Mars!

boogieman03 10-20-05 11:11 AM

Good point. I was watching about half of it while I was working out. Is that a pretty easy show to jump into, or would I be Lost (ha, there's the link to not make it off topic) if I haven't seen any other episode?

Sorry, didn't mean to go off topic.

So Kate did/does have feelings for Sawyer. I'm willing to bet that Anna Lucia and Sawyer will have feelings for each other or have hooked up by the time they get back to the other survivors.

JayDerek 10-20-05 11:24 AM

Liked last night's episode. Just a couple things:

- I know it's probably only been 3 or 4 island days since the monster/security system was active, but it would be nice to see it mentioned again. I'm hoping Kate didn't 'kill' it w/ the dynamite.

- The only bad thing about having all the survivors spread out is that there are quite a few people we just haven't seen much of this season yet....like Charlie, Shannon, Claire, Sayid...

- I hope Ana Lucia gets an attitude adjustment shortly. Her character is so annoying right now. I'm sure some light will be shed on what those survivors went through...so hopefully it'll be soon!

Yeah, I was -rolleyes- at that. I think they are taking what are probably honest continuity errors and assuming they are clues to the story. These are the kind of people who end up furious at the end of the show's run because all of the little inconsistencies are never explained.

Yeah, like they have to get the ratings up.

I thought it was an ok episode. What bugged me, other than a whole plotline about finding a ring is, like last season, they dont talk about what you want to know about and you know if you were really stuck on an island the first thing you would be saying is, tell me what happen? Who are the others? Instead everyone is tight lipped.

I agree, it's almost like they have already run out of interesting storylines and had to fill in a week to make the 22 episode committment.

Pretty lame episode if you ask me. Nothing much was explained and it shouldn't take more than one episode to give us the backstory of Jin & Sun.

http://www.tv.com/adewale-akinnuoye-...1/summary.html

Current TV Role: Dr. Ako On Lost
Birthplace: London, England
Birthday: 8-22-1967

Born in London, England, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje split his time as a youth between the UK and Nigeria. After earning a Masters from London's prestigious King's College University, a career in acting came his way when acclaimed director Frank Marshall cast him in "Congo." This led to appearances in the films "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls" and "Legionnaire," the HBO movie "Deadly Voyage," television series "Cracker" and "New York Undercover," as well as the ABC miniseries "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea."

Adewale recently wrapped "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," in which he plays the lead opposite Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. The film, which will be released this winter, was directed and produced by Oscar nominee Jim Sheridan. He also completed work on the film "Mistress of Spices," a romantic comedy in which he stars opposite Aishwarya Rai. That film was written and directed by Gurinder Chada & Paul Mayeda Berges, part of the creative team behind "Bend It Like Beckham."

Adewale's dramatic portrayal of the murderous drug addicted prisoner Adebisi in the television series "Oz" led to critical and audience acclaim, as well as two NAACP Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Ever eager to explore new ground, Adewale left "Oz" to focus on his film career and subsequently went on to star in blockbusters opposite Brendan Frasier in "The Mummy Returns" and with Matt Damon in "The Bourne Identity."

So, 2 great actors from OZ! :)

aktick 10-20-05 01:56 PM

As for the logo (or lack thereof) on the plane...they seem to think for it to be the DHARMA logo, it has to have a swan on it. There are probably 6 logos total, so I'll reserve judgement until the end of the series :nopanic: .

adamblast 10-20-05 01:58 PM

Well, I don't mean to threadpoop, I still like the show, but the last two eps are sitting on my TiVo.

I'll catch up and watch them, I figure, when something actually happens around sweeps time.

DVD Josh 10-20-05 02:01 PM

I'm not going to spolierize this, since at this point, it's mere speculation on my part, but I have a strong feel that this season's last episode is going to be flashbacks of the only character we REALLY don't know anything about - the plane itself. It coudl be a very cool, non-dialogue driven episode.

I agree to an extent, but it does seem kind of sloppy on their part. I mean, the show's creators/writers go out of their way to put little 'clues' in the background, so with tivo and whatnot, it's not unreasonable for them to expect people to pay attention to things like Jin's resume. Even though it's just a throwaway shot, it establishes that he met Sun post-November 27, 2004, which almost certainly has to be a mistake on this episode's part. If you're going to openly encourage people to look for meaning and reveals in every nook and cranny of your show, you really should have a system in place to ensure you avoid as many little continuity mistakes as possible. Seems like they could provide the props dept. with a timeline detailing when all the 'life events' we're seeing in flashbacks actually take place.

madara 10-20-05 02:37 PM

Was an interesting episode but not as good as last weeks. I am abit concerned though that Hurley only seems to be used as joke fodder alot times.

superman69 10-20-05 02:41 PM

And two from Angel. I thought we covered this LAST week. ;)

p.s. Thanks for getting the name for us! I wasn't able to track Dr. Ako down anywhere!
