my would be

1. Firelfy
2. Lost ( I guess its sci-fi)
3. Battlestar Galactica (new)
4. Dark Angel
5. Buffy
6. Angel
7. Roswell
8. X-files
9. Farscape
10. Miracles or Medium (if its Sci-fi)
But see, you wouldn't call your list the top 50 sci-fi shows of all time I would hope. You might be able to call it the top fifty sci-fi shows someone in their early twenties has seen, but certainly not of all time. That is where Boston.com has gone horribly, horribly wrong. They are declaring these shows to be the best representatives in science fiction television of all time. The list is not titled, one reporter's idea of the top 50 sci-fi shows based on the ones I've seen. It is highly unlikely that anyone is even remotely qualified to write a list of the top 50 sci-fi shows of all time since I doubt anyone has seen them all (maybe Das).

But you clearly are not qualified to make such a statement. Have you even seen The original Twilight Zone? The original Star Trek? Babylon 5? etc? My guess is no, so you are not an expert enough to say that those shows are better than the ones I just listed or to make a list of the top 50 shows of all time. Top 50 shows of your lifetime thus far, maybe. Do you see the distinction?

True science fiction, to me, means that the science is an intergral part of the story. If you can remove the science and still tell the same story, it's not "hard" science fiction.

Groucho is absolutely correct in his interpretation of science fiction but wrong about Firefly. It's science fiction; we just never got the chance to fully explore it, so it seems gray. See Serenity, and you'll know what I mean.

That may be, das. But you can't call it the "best sci-fi of all time" if it never got around to exploring those areas.

By the way, it's not a knock on the show. Indeed, I enjoy the "Western" episodes much more than the "Space" ones.

Oh, the list is a piece of shit. I'm not even discussing that, just clarifying the show's intent.

But then you'd have to say it's not "hard" science fiction since that is only one of many sub-genres.
