Is Kovac leaving this season too? Has he be on longer than Abby? I was surprised when he got top billing in the opening credits since he wasn't listed second last season, Abby was (and still is)

It's been a weird start to the season. It was jarring to see Goran get first billing in the title credits, and it was more jarring to see Scott Grimes in the credits too, mainly because I can't stand his character (Morris).

This may be the first time that I can remember disliking a majority of the characters. And Sam was on her way last season and this ep confirms her as a member of the majority. What an annoying character. Her family sub-plots are getting worse than Abby's ever were.
Neela should have just kicked Morris in the nuts while she was at it.

They re-casted the role of Alex, and I don't like him as much as the original Alex, who had spunk and a gleam in his eye, the new kid is a bit on the dull side.
Neeleh's intern was the classic f-up who apologized and complimented his way through med school, but now, his deficiencies are showing up in a glaring way. Hope he is gone because he is creepy.
During the search for Alex, Sam and Luka pretty much get a chance to talk about what's important to each in a relationship and find that they don't have coincident objectives when it comes to bringing forth new children into the world. Luka wants kids, Sam doesn't. Oh well, I guess Luka needs to cut bait and find a new pond...
Abby gets chided by Pratt for doing but not teaching her interns on her rounds, which isn't good for a R2 in her position.

Terrible, terrible episode.
Could give a rat's ass about Sam's hellspawn [though I did enjoy watching her in tight jeans]. The County stuff was just as bad.
Looks like Sam is the new Abby..

On the plus side, the police station Sam and Luka kept going to is relatively close to my house (on the corner of Addison and Halsted, two blocks east of Wrigley Field). I feel like I know someone famous! I've bought gas at the Shell station across the street! I've been to the Midas behind the police station! I've been in that police station!

Yep, this show has gone to hell. It's sucked for a couple of seasons now. I think the writing was on the wall last season. I hate the way the preview for each next episode makes it sound like something will actually happen (I think the deep voice and the flash sequences help).

Ok episode. Not great. If it becomes the Abby show again, I'm just going to stop watching. Same goes if it continues to be the Sam show. I don't really like any of the current characters. The only thing close to eye candy is Sam, and she's nothing extraordinary. They should have let Bibb stay around.

Have to agree with most everyone here. I'm usually one of the "ER defenders" but this one wasn't just a terrible opener, it was a terrible episode all over.

Ughhh, it just plain sucked...I think the show jumped the shark.
And that moron they picked to play Alex...I was hoping by the end he would just go into the coma and die...
Sam is turning into a real piece of crap....Kovac should have just left her there...hell, he could be tearing off a lot better than that in Chicago....
Story lines were boring, I don't think there are any characters save Kovac I really give a crap about anymore.
And someone please kill of Morris, what a douche!
