I love Alyson Hannigan, and i guess this show is going to be my new guilty pleasure, or at least hopefully it will. This is actually only the second network television that i've actually set up a season pass for.

LorenzoL, do you have a quick, non-spoiler review? I'm trying to decide between this and Kitchen Confidential.

Edited to add: I figured out that I can watch both since NBC is reairing Surface on the Scifi channel Tuesday nights at 10:00 (central). to networks who reair content on their cable affiliates. Now I'm set (until Sarah Michelle Gellar gets a sitcom at 7:30 on Mondays).

Am I the only person checking this out who doesn't think Alyson Hannigan is anything special?

I watched last night premiere episode out of sheer curiosity and end it up setting a season pass on my DVR. The good definitely outweight the bad IMHO.

My review (contains minor spoilers):

Spoiler:
Here are my main reasons for liking this show: Alyson Hannigan and Neil Patrick Harris. Their characters are given the best lines especially enjoyed Neil Patrick Harris line to
Spoiler:
"Suit up"
. Just to note that I'm not a Alyson Hannigan fanboy but she's an absolute joy in her role. Just watch for her eyepatch scenes especially the taxi cab ride.
- Jason Segel.
- The unexpected ending of the premiere episode.

My dislikes:
- The lead character of Ted played by Josh Radnor. This guy acting reminds me of Jimmy Fallon (and a poor man's version to boot).
- The laugh track.
- The predictable sitcom plotlines.

I still don't know whether is a good thing or bad:
- Cobie Smulders playing the role of Robin (Ted's dream girl). In some scenes she's gorgeous and other ones she's very plain. I'm still undecided whether she is good looking or not. However, I got to give her some bonus points for being Canadian.
- How far they can go with this flashback premise.

I've never found her very attractive - sorta cute, but not someone I would ever pine for.

regarding the show: I saw a preview of it on a CBS promo show, and Neil Patrick Harris seemed like the best part of the show (besides the beautiful woman whom the main character woos). I enjoyed him in "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle", so it'd be cool to have him bringing the funny on a weekly basis.

I saw the first episode last week because I got a preview DVD and I thought it was weak. Not very funny and Allyson was wasted. Neil Patrick Harris I thought tried to hard to be the womanizing jerk. Horrible laugh track too.

3.5/4 stars from USAToday.

Just based on the rating alone, I think I'll be watching this over the 1.5 star Surface.

I am generally not a sitcom person, but I plan to check it out based on the good reviews. Hopefully it's not too much of a standard sitcom.

I like Alyson Hannigan also, but probably not in the same way most of the guys in this thread do.

This lost out to Kitchen Confidential on my TiVo. Sorry, Willow and Doogie!

(I will have to catch re-runs of Surface on Sci-Fi, though. Thanks for the pointer!)

Count me as one who will give this watch strictly to see Willow on tv again.

I hope that the show is good enough that that doesn't have to be my only reason to watch.

I think this is the only sitcom that I expect to watch this fall (Curb Your Enthusiasm would be 2 if you count HBO) on the networks.

Hannigan is very pretty and has a great onscreen persona, but she doesn't make me tingly in that way.

This show sucks. I can't believe TV can suck this much. No wonder I watch almost nothing but HBO.

Oh, c'mon...

"When someone asks you if you're a god you say yes."

is not an obscure line from Ghostbusters.

I liked the episode, and will definitely stick around, though I don't like the guy who is playing Ted at all.

I liked the twist at the end.

Cobie Smulders (Robin) is hot.

I didn't like Marshall all that much, just a little too neutered for my taste.

I hope the writing gets better on the show, though.

Yeah, the little twist gave me more hope for the show, so I might tune in next time. It was very average, but felt like it could get better over time.

I just assumed Alyson's character would be a witch.
