The mere fact that you call it "pop-pop" Tells me that you aren't ready.

Loved the dig at Tom Cruse at the start.

Also, <paraphrased>
Michael Bluth: "You're going to get what you most desire."
George-Michael: "Maeby?"
Michael Bluth: "Definitely!"

I had to pause to laugh while watching the episode about three times. There aren't a lot of comedies that get even one.

See, I had the complete opposite opinion -- I thought this might be the worst of the entire series. I might've laughed once during the entire episode. Watched it with another huge Arrested Development fan, and it didn't get a reaction from him either. Oh well.
I'm with you on this. By AD standards, this was a dud. Too many double entendres and not enough of the more sophisticated subtle humor.

I thought it was a solid season opener - many funny moments...my favorite being the copy machine scene.

the word the earlier poster was searching for was PUN. Words that have a double meaning (not dirty) ... if you watch a flick like Airplane, it's filled with great PUNS.

Anyhow, I thought this was one of the funniest episodes yet. I am so glad to have the show back. The ending wasn't satisfying, but other than that, they haven't missed a beat. They did mention last season the Steve Holt/Gob connection (in the election episode I believe). Loved the Reno slogan.

Gob: "Michael, I've made a HUGE tiny mistake".

Boss: "and bring out the leather pony"
Michael: "Leather pony? What's that?"
Tobias: "I don't know...we don't have that during the afternoon"

Also, according to the yearbook, Steve Holt's mom is named "Eve."

A double entendre is similar to a pun, and if you don't think "pitching a tent", "This is your chance to rub off on your cousin" and some of the other phrases were meant to be dirty, then maybe I'm missing something.

Come on, this episode was loaded with double entendres! As other people noted, almost too many.

I remember Tobias having a few, especially since they made a point about it last season.

Solid opener. I thought it was hilarious, although I could've used more Buster.

The first end of the "MNF" doubleheader between the New York Giants and New Orleans Saints (the game was rescheduled because of Hurricane Katrina) scored a 10.9/17 for ABC at 8 p.m. The debut of "Surface" on NBC took second at 7.1/11, just beating "The King of Queens," 6.9/11, and "How I Met Your Mother," 7.2/11, on CBS. The WB grabbed the No. 4 spot with the season premiere of "7th Heaven," 3.8/6. A move to a new night didn't help FOX's "Arrested Development," which combined with the series premiere of "Kitchen Confidential" finished fifth. UPN trailed with "One on One" and "All of Us."

Not good! Finished behind WB?

I didn't see it. I don't really have any interest in watching this show.

I thought they did a good job of skipping all the inside jokes for the season premiere. Hopefully they got some new viewers out of it and Carmen gets her Emmy!

Yeah, although one saving grace for this show is having American Idol as a lead in when it comes back, if they decide to go that route. They need something to pump up the shows ratings.

I thought it was top notch all the way. Just brilliant stuff, and it boggles my mind that it could end up behind some WB show and that people just aren't watching this. It's comedic genius, and with all the pathetic sitcoms out there I can't believe AD isn't #1.

"Anything to get attention."

Great episode, they haven't missed a step...

Every joke was well timed and made me laugh... 4 1/2 out of 5!

Don't see how that is possible. Isn't AI an hour long program? That would put AD at 9. Currently Prison Break holds that slot and that is only until 24 returns.

The poor ratings are the result of no lead in AND a new night. Even though the show lost viewers after the Simpsons last year, it still helped retain a small percentage of them. This show isn't going to make it standing on it's own, it needs a lead in.

How about a half hour Idol, AD, and then 24? Can't ask for better Fox lead-in/lead-out than that!

I'd have to agree. Good by all means but nowhere near one of the best. Maybe the writers are just getting warmed up after the Summer break.
