TNT ties up drama pilot on hostages
Cabler, Devlin 'Talk' it out
By DENISE MARTIN
TNT and Dean Devlin are teaming for "Talk to Me," an hourlong show set in the world of hostage crisis negotiators.
CablerCabler has made a pilot commitment to the project, scripted by Paul Guyot ("Judging Amy") our very own BoatDrinks and produced by Lions Gate.
Series had been set up at USA Network with other writers attached, but will be reconceived for TNT.
"Every episode will open in the middle of a crisis, clock ticking," Devlin told Daily Variety. "My hope is that each week it'll be an hour of intense television that doesn't let up. I see it in the vein of '24' or the first season of 'ER.' "
Show will focus on the head of a hostage negotiators unit, along with the conflicts that arise between his team and the SWAT division.
"You've got the negotiators trying to keep everyone alive, while the SWAT team is trying to take everyone out. There's an inherent conflict there that's always fascinated me," Devlin said.
Casting will begin shortly.
"Talk To Me" is one of three series pilots under consideration at TNT. Others are "Saved," about a San Francisco emergency medical technician, from David Manson, Fox 21 and Imagine TV (Daily Variety, Aug. 19); and "Grace," about a jaded female police officer turning her life around, from Aaron Spelling, E. Duke Vincent and Nancy Miller.

Yeah, I know it was announced on his website in July, but at least we know more about it, right?

I hope it gets picked up, too. Just so we can see a show next to his name besides "Judging Amy".

UPDATE: Looks like the cast/director are firming up...
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Michael Rispoli and Billy Burke will lead the cast of "Talk to Me," TNT's drama pilot about hostage-crisis negotiators.
The project will chronicle the efforts of hostage negotiation and SWAT teams during emergency situations and will center on the lead hostage negotiator (Rispoli) and the head of the SWAT team (Burke), who are often at odds.
Nick Gomez (USA Network's "The 4400") is set to direct the pilot from a script by Paul Guyot. Production is under way in Toronto.
Rispoli's credits include HBO's "The Sopranos" and CBS' "Bram and Alice." The actor, currently on the big screen in "The Weather Man," recently wrapped the indie "Made in Brooklyn."
Burke's recent credits include Fox's series "The Jury" and the feature "Ladder 49."
