Didn't see this posted but FX renewed the show for a 3rd season:banana:

RENEW ME: FX has OK'ed a third season of the firefighter drama Rescue Me, starring Denis Leary. The current season flames out on Sept. 13; the 13 new episodes will begin unspooling in the second quarter of 2006.

Figured it'd happen, but happy to hear it's confirmed.

PopcornTreeCt 08-23-05 08:43 PM

Hopefully this show won't go off the deep end like Nip/Tuck has.

B.A. 08-23-05 10:37 PM

Damn - another funny, yet heavy, ep.

Tommy telling Sheila's girlfriend to get a pen. And then his stuttered response to Laura's inquiry. "You do have a great ass." rotfl

Janet in the white dress.

I'm glad they got the confrontation w/ the half-brother over w/. You knew it was going to happen, I was just happy to see that isn't how they decided to end the season. Wonder if we will see the half-brother's half-sister again?

And the Chief's story gets even more depressing, yet they still lighten it up a bit w/ interviews of the nursing candidates.

Good job, Kenny.

Not a lot of Probie or Franco. What little there was of Sean was funny, as usual.

MrX 08-23-05 10:54 PM

"Call the cops. If she sets you on fire, then you call me"rotfl

Pretty good episode.

The half-brother story was going nowhere so I'm glad that's done and  for very little Franco

invisiblegt 08-23-05 11:06 PM

So, how long until the Chief and the nurse get together?

I don't know. As soon as they started talking about buying her freedom, all I could think was that she was scamming him. It would be a total cliche if they do go that route, but they did go the obvious route with the priest...

I was thinking the same thing, but since they went the cliched route w/ the half-brother/priest, I don't think they will go that route w/ Kenny - at least I'm hoping they don't.
Either way - he's getting himself some nice tail.

That talk on the front stoop was the highlight of the episode.

Cusm 08-24-05 08:46 AM

Poor Tommy. He is finally trying to make it work with his wife and he is getting hot ass thrown at him in all directions - Janet, his half-sister, Sheila, possibly Laura, for a second I thought even Sheila's girlfriend.

I thought the same thing about Kenny being scammed, hopefully they will not go this direction.

How many episodes left this season?

I have no doubt Kenny is getting scammed. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

Deftones 08-24-05 11:51 AM

Did anyone else think that all the "nurses" that showed up would still be strippers?

One of the best lines of the show

"She's a really a nurse, she has the outfit and everything"

That episode was great just like every episode this season, but the molestation story seemed so out of place on the show.

I didn't quite catch what was Tommy telling to Sheila's girlfriend - the pen and list? Was that list on sex tips or just all Sheila's hang-ups?

It was instructions for his special method of going down. She asked him to explain and he told her she better get a pen.

I guess I never once thought he was getting scammed. I just figured things would turn out not so good once he met up with her pimp. He's clearly got a temper and he likes her a lot, so who knows what he would do or what the pimp might do to him.

Man, I thought for a second that Tommy was going to get invited into a three-way with Sheila and her lesbian girlfriend.

Another top quality program altogether. Still one of the best shows on air today period in my opinion. But then again, I don't get HBO. ;)

The "Tommy trying to get the pills" plot was getting a little annoying, but the rest of the episode was great stuff.

I'd say FX pretty much squashes HBO these days in the original programming department.

The story with the priest started going down a cliche, uninteresting path butt he kid's anguish was just so real and shocking that it really brought it home.

The scene in the diner with Ken and the hooker, however, was horrendous. First we get this terrific set up where she's setting up dates while he sits right there (a fresh, original, interesting and funny scenario to explore) and then instantly they hit us with an out-of-nowhere plot change about her "pimp" "F-Bomb" who is going to "kill her" if she tries to quit. WHAT?!?!?! SO STUPID! If it's true or if it's a scam it sucks! The idea of Ken trying to figure out a way to have domestic bliss with a woman who is also a hooker (a high-class one, by the way, who would not have a pimp named F-Bomb who threatens to kill her) is so original and fits so well with the idea of the show being about trying to meld the daily ho-hum life with the insanity of so many events. Having this turn into just another good guy vs. pimp thing really, really blows. I hope they salvage it.

I agree - that little sub-plot hit made a u-turn when they added the pimp. I was thinking all along (and I assume every one else) that she was working for a madame along the lines of Heidi Fleiss. That's why I'm starting to think more and more that it's a scam.

Ravenous 08-25-05 02:33 PM

Ok, did anyone else bust the fuck out laughing when Johnny runs down the kid, Tommy is munching the whole time on cookies out of breath; than the kid asks whos that? And Johnny says "Thats my brother; hes a *****"

Damn I nearly passed out watching that shit. I was totally expecting fireman; but no, *****. Its just so much more hilarious when you got actual siblings as well and see your not the only one.

And Kenny? Lucky fuck. That chick is a goddess

I figured she was independent. It doesn't seem to me that high-end call girls would have pimps that 'own' them like you find with street-walkers.

Then again, if it is a scam, kind of strange to scam a fireman who isn't exactly flush with cash. Figure she has many wealthy clients that she could scam.
