Celebrity Poker Showdown 8/18 Reality Guests

Worst. Episode. Ever. I had to fast forward through most because it was just unwatchable. In a setting like this where the guests really have to make a show out of basically sitting in a circle and talking for 2 hours, you really have to have some kind of talent/personality to pull it off. And no one at the table had any kind of talent whatsoever and any personality they had was a bad act. Trishelle looked like a deer in the headlights. Charla might as well have been playing War. Omarosa was trying, but she couldn't pull of any jokes or witty remarks without them sounding like she rehearsed them in a mirror. The Bachelor guy was the closest to a decent guest. He was trying to keep a low profile, but when surrounded by mediocrity, you look mediocre too. And Johnny Fairplay was a complete disaster. DISASTER. Everyone was just embarrased for him.

Dave and Phil basically gave up an hour in and just started reciting the cards that were on the table. They wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.

Not the best way to start a new season .

Jonny Fairplay made that episode unwatchable. How over the top annoying can one person be? Even when he went to the loser 'slounge with Trishell, who she called "her friend", he started to get on her nerves. Did you see her snap at him to shut up that one time. Classic.

And I love how Dave Foley kept making fun of his stupid oneliners.

You know when a former member of Kids in the Hall comments that your one-liners make NO sense they aren't funny on any level

I agree, it sucked. I hope they have better "celebrities" soon.

I got the opposite impression from him. I turned it off like 30-45 minutes in just because the man would not shut up, even on hands he wasn't involved in. It was like he was constantly trying to needle players to make calls or raises, he was very annoying.

Actually, yes. These people were like unfunny F-Listers.

C-List Celebrities are people with talent who aren't that popular anymore. Say what you want about Howie Mandel, but i dont think he forgot how to tell a joke since his career dried up. Sure Bonnie Hunt has crashed and burned every series she's been in. But she can toss out one liners a fast as the best of them.

Reality show stars never had any talent except convincing a casting agent that they can be annoying on an island/airport/office/apartment.

"He'd be like Andy Dick... if he wasn't gay and not funny."

"Johnny All-Play"

"Johnny Every-Play"

But you had to admit that the hand that Trishelle lost on was a well played hand... Firestone just had the higher 3-of-a-Kind.

Week 1: Charla Faddoul - Trishelle - Andrew Firestone - Jonny Fairplay - Omarosa

Week 2: Bryan Cranston - Howie Mandel - Stephen Collins - Peter Dinklage - Meat Loaf

Week 3: Kathy Najimy - Ricki Lake - Sharon Lawerence - Kathryn Morris - Caroline Rhea

Week 4: Anthony Anderson - Cheryl Hines - Amber Tamblyn - Alex Trebek - Michael Vartan

Week 5: Rosie O'Donnell - Penny Marshall - Travis Tritt - Eddie Cibrian - Mo Gaffney
Weeks 2, 4 and 5 look promising.

It was pretty damn irratating how Fairplay kept saying "These people are the worst poker players I've ever seen"...Didn't he lose to three of those worst poker players ever? Oh well, at least I won't ever watch this episode again!

Not one of the better episodes (however, I'm just happy to see a new episode )though I'm not crazy about these "themed" line-ups. Foley looked like he wanted to take a shower. I imagine Dave felt kind of scuzzy have to shill for Bravo's "Battle" show, since he obviously had no use for these people.

"Johnny Over-Play"

Even Trashelle was getting embarrassed for Johnny.

Thinking about this epsiode again, I loved how Dave Foley gave a little rant at the beginning telling the "reality" folks that he made his living as a writer and an actor and how he didn't like them, but they had to "play the game".

This didn't make sense to me either. It's one thing to lose to someone that follows no logic. Like last season when Rodman won. But these people were playing overly cautious if anything. Those are the easiest people to beat because you know when they have something.

This would make an excellent SNL skit as well.

I made it a point to skip this episode. I have no desire to watch them stretch the definition of celebrity, although this entire upcoming season doesn't seem to very exciting at all.
