I can't wait

dadaluholla 07-26-05 03:00 PM

The previews last week looked intense, baby!!!! Woooo.

What is there, like 8 episodes left? or 7?

Tonight's episode is the 6th, so that should mean there are 7 left (I'm assuming the season is 13 episodes long).

dadaluholla 07-26-05 04:07 PM

Yeah I think Nip/Tuck starts 9/20 so that seems to be right.
Oh well, the end of one good show and the start of another....
I can't really complain.

TruGator 07-26-05 04:09 PM

Are there gonna be new episodes straight to the end of the season? That would be great. I like Nip/Tuck too so i'm glad something can fill my Rescue Me void.

mikehunt 07-26-05 09:52 PM

whoa
this one is crazy intense

Geofferson 07-26-05 10:08 PM

The second intense domestic fight in as many nights (last night's SFU). Great scene between the chief and his gay(!) son at the dining room table.

A downer of an episode for both Franco and Sean, but Lou provided some great comic relief at the bar (by running out on his tab), Jesus giving the 'loser' sign to Tommy and Tommy when he said, "I'll have Otis."

Noojimbo 07-26-05 10:12 PM

The "tainted" bone marrow conversation was hilarious

Gil Jawetz 07-26-05 11:22 PM

The show really does get better and better.

Other than
Spoiler:
the chick Garrity was dating dying in a fire, which was cliche and improbably lame
this was one of the most wrenching, powerful episodes yet. We know the characters well enough that we don't need "issues" to be moved. Just their own problems. Chief's scene with his son was VERY strong, Ken's bar scene was funny and sad, Franco's situation was really upsetting, and Tommy's situation was almost too much to bear. The scenes with Sheila were among some of the strongest stuff I've seen on TV. Hard to watch.

Anyone notice how Denis Leary looks like a rat when he was pushing Sheila around in the kitchen?

Yep, he kept curling his lip up and exposed his teeth.

The bar scene and the marrow conversation were hilarious.

Yet again, Rescue Me amazes.

The bone marrow conversation was excellent.
Tommy going after Shiela was altogether disturbing.
I'm curious about Kiela.

But the thing that just had me gasping was the preview for next week:
Spoiler:
"Tommy, that kid's lips are stuck to yours" (after Tommy gave mouth-to-mouth).

glassdragon 07-27-05 01:37 AM

Very very moving Montage at the end. I continue to spend my entire week looking forward to tuesday so i can watch this show

It's amazing how this show just meshes a very emotional scene like the one w/ the Chief and his son and Kenny talking about his cursed marrow and how he wants it back.

And I'm not even going into Tommy and Sheila - holy shit.

Red Dog 07-27-05 07:46 AM

Wow. A lot going on in this episode.

Joeboo835 07-27-05 08:01 AM

How is this show not up for any awards? I get more and more impressed every week and its already my favorite show.

"I don't refer to you as the retarded probie"

Gil Jawetz 07-27-05 09:16 AM

It's nominated for directing and writing. There should be a couple of acting nods in there, but it's a start.

DeputyDave 07-27-05 11:24 AM

Great episode (as usual) that scene with Sheila was like a kick in the gut.

GuessWho 07-27-05 11:26 AM

*waves hand over box*

No jellies.

Callie Thorne deserves one for that performance last night - plus I think she may do the best tv sex scenes, look at these and The Wire.

Deftones 07-27-05 01:49 PM

Was that Stuttering John in the preview for next week?

Great episode. I love the whole bone marrow angle and argument in the bar. That was quality tv.

xVladx 07-27-05 02:20 PM

I've just started watching this show three episodes ago, and I've got some backstory questions, as FX doesn't appear to run old episodes of their shows that I'm actually interested in (still haven't seen the first 3.5 seasons of The Shield)...

From the "Previously on..."s, I gather that Tommy was suspended from the fire department for some reason. After his conversation with his dead cousin last night, I gather that his cousin was also a firefighter that died in the line of duty or something. What happened that got Tommy suspended, exactly? Was it related to his cousin's death, or his drinking, or both?

What's the story with the "FBI Guy" who kicked Tommy out of his apartment last night?

Was Shiela always a bit nuts, or was it Tommy's cousin's death that caused it?

Gil Jawetz 07-27-05 02:38 PM

You must must must get season 1 on DVD. It's crucial!

Count Dooku 07-27-05 02:52 PM

Jimmy, Tommy's cousin and Sheila's husband, was killed in the line of duty at WTC on 9-11.

Tommy was drinking, drugging and seeing dead people.
His "instability" led to Franco's injuries, and then Tommy was temporarily transferred to another firehouse.

Tommy was living in an illegal sublet, and he was supposed to keep quiet and stay out of sight. What were the chances of that?

Sheila was always a little nutty. but (IMHO) it was more of a reckless nutty that led to Tommy having some pretty great wild sex.
Now she seems more "you should seek help" nutty which is lees fun and more dangerous.
