"24" Movie in the works

I hope it's all right putting this in the TV forum instead of the movie forum since it revolves around a TV show...

From JAM! Television:

A movie based on the Fox series 24 is in the works. But whether it will be shot in real-time is still up for consideration, says the show's Canadian director/producer Jon Cassar.

"The last I heard, the first hour will not be in real-time, but then something big will happen and real time will kick in. It still has to be worked out -- it's at a stage where they need to write it."

Cassar will not predict a storyline for the big screen version of the hugely popular show.

He says the script will likely depend on what's happening on the series prior to the movie coming out.

"It could still be two years from now, so it's far too early to say," he says, adding even if he did know, he wouldn't give it away.

"The No. 1 question people ask me is 'what's going to happen next?' My response is always, 'Do you really want to know?' and they always think about it and then say 'no.' "
Sounds like it could be just a long episode of the series, but with a MUCH bigger budget.

It can only be good if the story connects to the overall terrorism of the some of the past seasons. Otherwise, there is nothing really unique.

I'm guessing 3. Otherwise, Jack won't have enough time to get reinstated into CTU, get a partner killed, go out into the desert to kill the bad guys, and get back in time to be killed by a mole, only to get revived at the last second, in time to prevent World War 3, and to cure world hunger.

Don't kidd yourself, Jack ALWAYS has enough time to get a partner killed.

I hope there's an hour of Jack taking a dump.

To make up for all the missed opportunities on TV, of course..

Doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Never been able to get excited about movies based on TV shows..It's just like seeing another episode just a long one.

Actually might work because season 4 was getting a bit boring. Problem, bring in Jack, bang, bang, bang problem solved and repeat this 24 times at least once per episode.
Spoiler:

Bad move to kill off Sherry Palmer (Penny Johnson), but in the movie bring her back with no problems.

BTW, there was a blurb in the new tv guide about next season. It will take place 2 years after season 4.

Spoiler:
After season 4, Tony and Michelle quit CTU and rode off into the sunset to live happily ever after.

THIS would be the only way I'd consider seeing it - if it interlocks all the previous terrorist plots (e.g. Mia Kirshner's Mandy who has been popping up somewhere in the storylines since the 1st hour of season 1).

I was thinking about this some more, and I realized that it's already ridiculous that these terrorist plots are foiled in 24 hours, yet we're supposed to believe they'll take one down in 2?
