"Voice Mail"
TOMMY GAVIN (Denis Leary) is on the verge of destruction. He has spent the last few months looking for his wife who has kidnapped his three kids, dealing with being in a new, eventless firehouse after a volatile split with his old crew, coming to terms with the fact that his dead cousin's wife is pregnant with his baby and battling his alcohol addiction. At this point, Tommy's only wish is to have his old life back. At the firehouse, a new firefighter has replaced Tommy and is winning over everyone in the house except for CHIEF JERRY (Jack McGee) and LOU (John Scurti) who remains hopeful he can get Tommy back on the crew.

 I've been waiting for this day for weeks.

Too bad FX doesn't broadcast in HD yet. :(

dadaluholla 06-21-05 09:05 AM

Hey. I didn't get a chance to pick up the first season on dvd yet, so do you think I'd be able to follow this 2nd season going in blind?

Just record it and get a hold of that first season!!!

dadaluholla 06-21-05 09:13 AM

yeah I was thinking about recording it too. I don't have TIVO or anything so i'd have to whip out the VHS. Arrrgh.

Definitely letting the DVR handle this one. Got three more episodes to go on the DVD for my girlfriend to be caught up. I'm ready to go but I'll wait and watch it with her.

Looking forward to tonight. I've been watching The Job for the past week or so which was even funnier then I remembered, and it has really got me pumped for RM S2.

The Job was great. Leary and Peter Tolan have created two great shows. Here's hoping that season 2 of Rescue Me is on par with the first.

"For your information - 'Ultra' is way bigger than 'Mega'."

Good to see his brother, John, is back. And they introduce a lawyer cousin, Eddie. This after we find out his cousin, Mick, is a no longer a priest.

The new house is hilarious...

"I've still got two left - cock. tits."

Never watched this show. Considering a purchase on the DDD 20% but need more information for such a blind purchase.

Can someone compare this to a broadcast show that I may have watched? Third Watch or NYPD Blue for example?

Did you ever see The Job? Peter Tolan and Dennis Leary created that show, too. Now mix that w/ the gritty drama of NYPD Blue, but w/ firemen.

Anyhow - happy as hell to have it back.

Wonder how long he will stay on the wagon and how the hell he will fall back off. And when in the hell are they going to get him back to the old firestation? That better not take all season.

Achtung 06-21-05 11:00 PM

Good episode. I had watched it on and off last season, thought the parts I saw were really good, though I still feel Leary's character is bit exaggerated. Couldn't get away from the ads for this episode, so I tuned in and was pleased. Let's see if I stick with it this time.

I was glad to see the guy who played Tobias Beecher from Oz (my favorite character from that show although I'm still only in season 4) as Sully, the new member of the firehouse. Hope he sticks around because I would love to see him get more work.

Pretty good episode overall. After waiting anxiously for the season to begin, there was no way this could have lived up to my expectations, but it was still an enjoyable hour of television. First episode of a new season is always kinda slow, but can't wait to see where it goes from here.

People actually sell 9-11 cookies?

Someone from NY could probably provide a better answer, since I haven't been there since 2000. But I couldn't imagine someone on the street being allowed to do that and not getting crap all the time. But then, anything goes in this country sometimes.

Goldberg74 06-21-05 11:34 PM

Missed it tonight... but I'll snag a repeat.

Geofferson 06-22-05 08:16 AM

Great to have this show back! Solid premiere although my only complaint is the heavy-handedness regarding Tommy's battle with the bottle (dousing himself w/ alcohol and toying with the lighter).

Glad to see Dianne Farr's name included in the opening credits.

I was just at ground zero a couple weeks ago, and I didn't see anything of the sort.

"You smell like whiskey"
"OK let me take care of that"
"What's that?"
"Vodka. It has hardly any aroma"

dadaluholla 06-22-05 12:51 PM

Last night was my first time watching the show and I really liked it. I ordered the 1st season from DDD this morning. Good stuff.

DON'T TAKE YOUR COCK OUT IN THE KITCHEN

mikehunt 06-22-05 01:21 PM

is it really illegal to get a picture of a cock developed at a commercial film processing place?

Phil L. 06-22-05 03:39 PM

I can't imagine any photo clerk calling the police over finding one cock pic in a batch of regular pics. I would think there would need to be something really pornographic or involving children for the authorities to be involved. The clerks don't even necessarily see every individual picture anyway.

Anyway, wasn't this type of situation already in a King of Queens episode?
