I saw that thread but never clicked it. I clicked this one b/c HD was in the title. Maybe that one needs an update.

Just a heads up if you're Canadian or live near the border: CBC will be playing AotC the same night(starts and hour earlier too), and they usually play their movies in the OAR.

When they aired the DVD versions, CBC altered (as in zoomed in) them to look less like their OAR and more like 1.85:1.

Phantom Menace was just on, and it was zoomed in to look like 1.78:1

When they showed The Phantom Menace a couple of years ago, it was in 2.35:1 480p. Although this by no means indicates AOTC will be in OAR, it does mean theres a chance it might, unless youve seen something that stated it would be 1.78:1. They have shown some movies in OAR in the past, its just not often (Tomb Raider was one I recall being in OAR).

And The Phantom Menace that you just saw in the past couple of days was a syndicated version that FOX offered all of its affiliates....it was not in HD. Im guessing your affiliate zooms or stretches 4:3 material.

Unfortunately in Canada when a program is broadcast on a US channel, the local Canadian channel cuts into the broadcast. (I'm referring to cable, not satellite)

Example: can't see all those neat "Super Bowl" commercials when it airs.

CBC aired both films unedited and zoomed into 1.78:1, but if a 1.85:1 film airs they leave it as is.

I don't have HD, or a widescreen TV, but I loves my OAR dagnabbit!
Even if I had a 9" TV that wouldn't change.
