Fuck HBO.
I dont watch much TV, just Deadwood and Sopranos on HBO, but now with no Carnivale it seems pointless to have HBO I really should cancel but I like watching movies in HD one in awhile. I just saw Jimmy Hollywood for the first time the other day and it was pretty good! |

Well, there should be CYE coming out...they have filmed episodes, that is where they get that guy out of trouble with the law because he was on their tape at a baseball stadium, that was less than 16 months ago. So it's coming....looks like they want to spread the good stuff out cause they don't have a lot of it.

I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that CYE was going to be back. I believe it was around the time they announced that Carnivale wouldn't be back.
I'll try and find the reference. *edit* I found this: LOS ANGELES, Jul 23, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- HBO has renewed "Curb Your Enthusiasm" for a fifth season, the cable network announced Friday. The Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning series, executive produced by and starring Larry David, will produce 10 new episodes in Los Angeles beginning next January, said HBO Entertainment president Carolyn Strauss. "Curb Your Enthusiasm" also stars Cheryl Hines as David's wife Cheryl and Jeff Garlin as his manager Jeff. The show received eight nominations when this year's Emmy nominees were announced last week -- including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and three for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series. In 2003, Robert B. Weide won a directing Emmy for his work on the show. But, yeah, back to Carnivale. The only reason I subscribed to HBO was for Carnivale, and they day after the cancellation announcement came out, I cancelled them back. |
According to EW, of all the canceled shows where fans are attempting save, Carnivāle has the best odds of returning...
http://www.ew.com/ew/report/0,6115,1073707_3_0_,00.html Last Crusade Fans unite to save canceled TV shows -- Viewers of defunct shows like ''Carnivale,'' ''Eyes,'' ''Enterprise,'' and ''Joan of Arcadia,'' are trying to bring them back by Paul Katz. Is there life after death in prime time? There was last season for Fox's once-defunct Family Guy. Now fans of several recently canceled series are trying to work similar resurrection magic. Who'll succeed? EW weighs in. Carnivāle THE CAMPAIGN Die-hard fans have deluged HBO with custom-made tarot cards demanding a revival and even got star Clancy Brown to publicize their efforts in the media. WILL IT WORK? This low-rated Carnivāle ride could be over for good, but once the bearded lady joins the cause, who can stop them? ODDS 10-1 Eyes THE CAMPAIGN ABC remains blind to the 6,700 folks who've signed an online petition begging to see the private-eye series' remaining five episodes. WILL IT WORK? The network could easily air them this summer. Meanwhile, three fans are still on a hunger strike, waiting for a Wings reunion. ODDS 25-1 Enterprise THE CAMPAIGN Trekkers raised almost $3 million toward production costs, but UPN didn't budge. Now fans are asking Sci Fi Channel to boldly go where UPN won't season 5. WILL IT WORK? Paramount seems intent on giving the franchise a rest. As a Klingon might say, ''Paramount's such a Jagh!'' ODDS 50-1 Joan of Arcadia THE CAMPAIGN Arcadia's Army has given up saving Joan at CBS. Now they're mailing strings of yarn to other nets, hoping to find it a new home. WILL IT WORK? With the cast under contract only through the summer, it'll take a call from the Almighty to save Joan. Oh, put down the phone, Alanis. Odds 100-1 |
AICN is reporting of a rally that'll be taking place in an attempt to save this show...
Hey, Herc and all you folks on the right-hand side of the page. Capone in Chicago to deliver one last message regarding this weekend's Flashback Weekend (www.flashbackweekend.com) convention. I tend not be too bothered when a television show I watch gets canceled; I'm not the sentimental type. 99 times out of 100, the show had run its course and deserves a mercy killing. But this was not the case for one show that I will genuinely miss. I was a massive, massive fan of HBO's "Carnivale." The first season was someone taxing, I'll admit, but the second season witnessed such a transformation and upgrade, I almost couldn't believe it. Every week, major events would unfold in the classic battle between good and evil, heaven and hell, the second coming and the son of Satan. And clearly I'm not the only one who felt this way. I keep reading stories in television columns that HBO continues to get pounded with petitions and e-mails begging them to bring back this quality show. To drive home the point one more time with HBO, there will be a "Bring Back Carnivale" rally at Flashback Weekend on July 30, with several cast members in attendance and yours truly as emcee. Let me run down the schedule of events: At 1:30, Tim DeKay (Jonesy) will take the stage for a Q&A. At 1:50, he will be joined by co-star Adrienne Barbeau for the official Bring Back Carnivale Rally. This will be followed by a separate Q&A with Ms. Barbeau (who will obviously be talking about more than just "Carnivale"). The rally will be filmed and sent to HBO as yet another example of how devoted the fan base is. On Sunday, July 31, the full-on official "Carnivale" panel will happen with DeKay, Barbeau, and series guests Bill Moseley and Matt McGrory. At best, it will be a chance for fans to show their support and bring back a great show that was clearly getting better. At worst, it will be an opportunity to say good-bye to some of our favorite from the cast. See you there, and let's shake some dust, children! |

God I hope it returns, or at least a movie with a conclusion.
Please. |
Anyway to find out how that rally went?
Man Id be happy with anything close to a return. A movie where they deal with Sophie; anything. Even a half season or something. I mean it cant be as expensive as the first as they have everything made for the damn show. Just gotta shoot somewhere. |
I believe Knauf doesn't want a movie - he thinks it won't make a justice to series. I think he said that series could run for either three or six years, I suppose they already went with six seasons variation. Correct me if I am wrong.
|
Considering Knauf has a Showtime series in development, I can't see how Carnivale could return, unless they bring it back without him. But considering his deep involvement with the show, what would be the point of a Knauf-less continuation?
|
If they bring this back, they get my money . Its as simple as that. I still don't know why HBO ditched this. 2006 could be a Huge year for them with:
1) Sopranos 2) Carnivale-If it returns 3) Rome-looks pretty good 4) Deadwood That's an extremly impressive lineup. Please God, bring this series back. |
Isn't the new Richard Gervais show going to be on HBO? The Extras?

http://www.savecarnivale.org/html/to...H%20071805.htm "Never have we gotten besieged the way we have been besieged by "Carnivale" fans for deciding to not go on with the third season of that show," said HBO chairman and CEO Chris Albrecht. "Literally, 50,000 e-mails over a weekend, and I don't mean the first weekend. It is so over the top, not just in terms of the number, but in terms of things that they say and threaten." Albrecht said if the series hadn't cost about $4 million per episode, it would have returned. "If 'Carnivale' was a $2 million-an-hour show, we'd keep going with it," he said. "It's not a big show for foreign [distribution] ... You just have to say, 'Can I take this money and allocate it in other ways to appeal to that same audience?' Although after reading the e-mails, I'm not sure." yourself and other fans of the show may want to check out the above website, "save carnivale" at http://www.savecarnivale.org/, and support them in our fight to bring carnivale back! another very good carnivale fansite is at: http://www.roadtobabylon.org/index.php |
