TV Guide Channel

What's up with the TV Guide Channel? Is it just me or have they stopped showing the actual TV Guide and switched to original programming? I'm not sure if I missed an announcement or something, but I could swear for the past few days I haven't seen any listing at all. This reminds me of when MTV used to show music videos.... :(

This falls under the heading of "I didn't even know that channel still existed".

Uhh ... you have noticed that entire bottom half of the channel is TV listings, right?

William Fuld 04-26-05 01:27 PM

Occasionally there are "technical difficulties" with the listings and the channel will be full screen original programming and commercials. It happens on my cable service at least once a month.

Half the screen is original programming..the other half is the guide.

On Directv it isn't. No more guide. Just a full screen of programming. On the very bottom of the screen, they put up different shows, channel and time.
But, no traditional guide.
I think this happened a few months ago.

Is that blond still doing commentary for this? I think her name was Katie Wagner maybe?
I always thought she was hot.

I've never really watched anything on it before, but channel surfing one night I came across a show that was being hosted by Amber (forget her last name, Rob's Amber, from Amazing Race) of Survivor, about homes and lifestyles of Survivor winners. Do they have this kind of thing on often?

TV GUide does have some original programming.

I saw this program where they take people that look like stars..and try to make them..really look like stars.

This is what it used to be. The few times I've checked these past few days it was original programming (the entire screen). It usually is the "Celebrity look-alike contest", or the Kimberly Caldwell(?) show (the ex-American Idol blond chick), or the Talk Soup guy.

the tv guide channel on my comcast cable has not shown an actual tv guide for years....

i have to use the website....

Emma311 04-29-05 09:56 PM

I can't stand those hosts voices. I usually mute it if I'm waiting to see what's coming on. Plus the people they try to make over usually look nothing like the stars.

i thought any original programming was at the top and bottom of the hour, and then they would replay it over and over. So you'd see a preview for a certain new episode which really aired over a week ago. The rest of the time I see a lot of regular commercials and stupid ads you see on public access. I stll see tv listings but I forget what I was looking for and switch it off.

It's better to go to tvlistings2.zap2it.com and join, than the tvguide site which is too flash-heavy.

I'm too impatient to use the TVGuide channel, but switching on to it, it looks like there is no original programming, for Time Warner Cable at least.
