The Shield 04/26/05

Episode Title: "Hurts"

http://www.eldoblatge.com/caratules/558.jpg

Spoiler:
Just as Monica and Vic get close to a big break in the Garage Sting, Chief Phillips unexpectedly hands over the bust to the Organized Crime Unit. He blames the decision on an emerging PR scandal involving a videotape of Vic at the church bust that was leaked to the Assistant Chief through Aceveda's office. Vic uses his leverage with the Byz Lats to find a Russian mob leader before the mobster flees the country. Monica threatens two foster care social workers with jail after a young girl is found close to death in her foster home, then tells Julien if he doesn't put in for a transfer, she'll request one for him herself.

I don't know if it's this episode or a preview for a future one, but I saw a preview that had
Spoiler:
Antwon telling Shane that he'll give him the girl's body, with his bullets in her, if Shane kills Vic. Of course, Vic hears the whole thing on the hidden camera in Shane's car.

I can only imagine how this season is going to turn out!

That was the preview for this week. Should be another great episode.

yohansen5b 04-26-05 10:04 PM

this show is amazing.

SBrooks1 04-26-05 10:07 PM

Awesome episode as usual. The best show on TV in my opinion. Can't wait to see what happens next week when
Spoiler:
Vic and Shane meet up 1 on 1!!!

chrisih8u 04-26-05 10:42 PM

Who's going to get it worse? Shane...or Dutch?

Tommy Ceez 04-26-05 10:47 PM

Chicklis is the only actor on earth that can actually make you believe that his head will realistically EXPLODE!

Hows that for emoting?

Shane, Dutch, or......Aceveda, who's gonna get it worse?

BTW...the scene with Cleetus and Vic approaching the buy and Vics eyes never leaving Shane was so fuckin powerfull!

MrX 04-27-05 12:03 AM

Awesome episode

I loved the scene with the camera infront of Shane with Vic behind him as they were going to the bust.

I think Vic's head would have exploded if he walked in on Dutch playing dad with his daughter. Loved their scene outside

"What kind of car do you want?"

"Hey Dutchboy what are you riding in these days?

"A Suburu"

"Anything but a Suburu"

Jackskeleton 04-27-05 01:17 AM

god, that was a great episode. why can't tuesday come already?

Deftones 04-27-05 01:34 AM

Wow. Just wow. This show is amazing. Hands down the best episode of the season thus far, and easily the best show on TV.

Thats where I thought has was walking to at the end of the episode. You could see he was super pissed when he bumped those guys on the street.

I could see him coming through the front door with Dutch there then fade to black roll credits!

MovieExchange 04-27-05 06:55 AM

I'm just waiting for Vic to do to the same thing to Aceveda that he did to Julien in season 1.

Vic needs to find that camera phone or catch Aceveda with that prostitute and SOON!!!

Red Dog 04-27-05 08:11 AM

Damn - the tension that this show is creating is almost unbearable.

Julian busting the DVD bootlegger.:thumbsup:

Charlie Goose 04-27-05 08:23 AM

Lem was worried when Shane & Vic approached the bust together. Vic wasn't getting in front of Shane no matter what.

Fucking Julian. Arresting some poor schmuck just to make a point? Glad to see Monica took him to task for that.

Aceveda took care of that last season. He arrested the rapist and erased the picture.

Cusm 04-27-05 08:36 AM

Julien is becoming annoying and useless again, he seems to do this every season. I am sure Assinvaded will come to his rescue. And I agree Vic needs to squash him SOON.

Who can blame him after Vic's request for a new car, which was even more outlandish.

Geofferson 04-27-05 09:13 AM

Great episode last night. The expression on Vic's face when he was trailing Shane was intense if I've ever seen one! "After you..."

Mattrk 04-27-05 10:02 AM

Dutch with Vic's ex-wife -

'Scuse me, I just puked in the back of my throat.

slop101 04-27-05 10:53 AM

I think the only way this can go down is for Shane to come clean to Vic, and ask him for help with this whole Antwone mess.

I can't wait to see Vic explode when he finds out that Dutch has been dating his wife and hanging out with his kids - that will set him off more than anything else.

Supermallet 04-27-05 10:58 AM

What an episode. The scene where Vic was watching the tape with Antwone and Shane on it was actually suspenseful, even though you knew exactly who Antwone wanted dead.

The scene where Monica and Claudette talk in the hospital was also probably the most touching moment of any Shield episode to date.

MrE 04-27-05 11:01 AM

Vic's a teacher...He's working on his lesson plans for Shane, Aceveda and Dutch.

uteotw 04-27-05 01:07 PM

Claudette: "She's up on her soapbox again."
Dutch: "Does she have her own or does she get to borrow yours?"
BRILLIANT line, and I love that Dutch doesn't back down.
However, it's one thing to stand up to Claudette, and I'm guessing it will be quite another to stand up to an angry Vic...

Derrich 04-27-05 01:25 PM

If you ask me, Dutch is showing himself to be the true mastermind. Vic jabs and jabs and Dutch takes the hits day in and day out. All the time planning for the knockout punch.

Check how when Vic's wife was coming in for the kiss and the kid walked up. Dutch could've continued with the kiss and played with the kid after, but no. He went straight for the storytelling, because he know that thats what will really get him in good with the mom. The man is a master.

Yep - it is the Shield's version of Revenge of the Nerds, which was a great piece of storytelling.

Tommy Ceez 04-27-05 03:18 PM

So are we saying that Vic will murder a Homicide detective, a Vice Detective and a City Councilman witin a week?

mikehunt 04-27-05 04:37 PM

I actual support Julian in what he did to the dvd guy. the whole property confiscation thing is BS

Yeah. Not to mention taking a beating from Vic might not be that bad.I'm going to say Dutch and Vic's soon to be ex aren't real serious about their relationship yet. If Vic lays a hand on Dutch she'll hate Vic more and push closer to Dutch.

Big gang problem in Buffalo?

Derrich 04-27-05 11:51 PM

The problem with the confiscation stuff is that it takes property when you're arrested, not convicted. So it goes against the whole innocent till proven guilty. It really should'nt hold up in court at all.

joltaddict 04-28-05 01:00 AM

Why doesnt he have a camera in Acevadas car?

exactly, it's also a violation of teh 5th Amendment since the property is taken without a conviction

I really think Dutch is the one in the most danger.

The long-term stuff gets Vic closer and closer to the boiling point, just ready to explode. Then it's the random shit he doesn't expect--like the flashlight in the eyes--that makes him go postal. If he were to walk in on Dutch playing Daddy to his kids, look out.

vegasbaby 04-29-05 11:08 PM

I kinda lost track of all the Russians by the end of the episode. Can someone clear it up?

As far as I understand it (I've only been watching the show for all of two episodes, so if there's backstory, I don't have it), there was the main mobster guy who they were trying to get a hold of (the one that Vic accosted while the other cop was switching the recording stuff in the car). However, when the Organized Crime unit tried to bust the group of mobsters, the main one slipped away, and the planned arson was still likely to go ahead. Vic traded info with the other gangster (the one involved with the cigarettes) to get information that would lead him to the main russian guy. That's who he ended up beating up in the apartment to get the name and location of the arsonist. He then found the arsonist, dragged him to the same apartment, then set it up so that the cops would arrive and take them both away.

Yeah, the seizure laws are Draconian Link .

Mopower 04-30-05 02:06 PM

Did any of you catch all the Mancow stuff in this episode? The Mancow's Morning Madhouse sticker on the Pontiac G6 that got pulled over. And Turd, Mancow, Big Al Roker Jr, and DJ Luv Cheese were all extras in it. Mancow has a radio show in Chicago if you don't know what I'm talking about.
