There was also a Lost-related commercial during Lost that was pretty funny too.

shaun3000 04-13-05 11:21 AM

Hrm, Ashanti is Dorthy. So it's gonna be the Wiz with Muppets...

I really don't understand people that say this. Just because they cast black actors, it suddently becomes "urban"?

Cusm 04-13-05 01:00 PM

They should have Rizzo as Toto, instead of PePe, whoever that is.

I know what he is, He is the (un)official spokeman for Long John Silvers, but IMO he is not the "5th" muppet star like Rizzo is. Rizzo & Gonzo is pure Muppet gold.

majorjoe23 04-13-05 02:22 PM

Post Jim Hensen Muppets are like New Coke.

Rogue588 04-13-05 03:19 PM

Morf 04-13-05 04:27 PM

I think Snookums should have been Toto. I can imagine it now ...

hardcore 04-13-05 04:41 PM

While a rat looks more like a dog than a king prawn, I'd never complain about getting more Pepe. Funniest muppet ever...

To those of you that hate post-Jim Muppets, did you even watch Muppets Tonight, and if so, what didn't you like about it?

What do you get when you cross an elephant with a rhino?

majorjoe23 04-13-05 04:56 PM

Not enough Kermit, too much rasta-thing.

BlackCapTen 04-14-05 07:17 AM

Sounds fun. I'll check it out, haven't watched a Muppet Movie in ages.

Come on and ease on down, ease down the road. Come on and ease on down, ease on down the roooooode.

I just picked up The Muppets Take Manhattan from Wal-Mart for $5.50. It's been a while since I've seen that one.

And I like Pepe, by far one of the best.

Cameron 04-18-05 01:13 AM

Last night during Desperate Housewives, there was another commercial: Kermit (in his scarecrow outfit) is walking down the golden-brick road and comes upon a fork in the road. One sign points to "Wisteria Lane" the other "Oz". He starts down "Wisteria" and you hear Piggy off camera: "Don't even think about it frog!!".

Cusm 04-18-05 08:59 AM

Can someone describe the Lost and Alias ads, I missed them, but caught the DH one last night.

Grenadier 04-18-05 09:01 AM

They did show-specific ads during Lost that same week, and during Desperate Housewives last night.

My search didn't turn up video of them, but this is pretty close:

a bump to remind everyone that this is happening later this week.

I read an article in Entertainment weekly about it today. Quentin Tarantino plays himself in the movie....the clip at the abc site is funny....if you let it cycle through the behind the scenes and trailers it shows all the bumpers (alias, Desperate Housewives, lost)

The article was ok, and it said that Disney wanted to get some of the adult humor back into the muppets. (If someone has it post it) I hope that is true. I know some of the picks for the live cast have been seen as flawed....I had my doubts, but I do think it is cool that they are grabbing some pop icons of the moment...the muppet show was great at that. Hope this is helps and enjoy the ads.

They are flawed, but i'm not going to get into that. Obviously, Ashanti has her fans...Both of 'em.

And, i'm not sure Senor Wences or Jean Pierre Rampal were considered "pop icons" when they guested on the Muppet Show. The guests on the show were people Jim wanted [and friends], not people who were promoting something.

Oh, and they had something remotely resembling talent too.

I did read in EW that the Muppet Oz is adapted from the Oz book and not the 1930s movie.

I'd say Animal is considered the 5th Muppet star before Rizzo. F Rizzo.

Shipwreck 05-17-05 03:30 PM

Look, okay... Pepe the King Prawn is one of the best muppets of all time, okay? I am a huge fan of Jim Henson and loved everything he created. I hate to see the muppets selling twizzlers or Domino's Pizza, but I loved Pepe in the Long John Silvers commercials. All of my friends and family were pretty tired of my talking like Pepe and were glad when those commercials went away.

Pepe as Toto? Unbelievable, okay?

Also, Welcome to Pepe's Lounge, okay.
