Whatever happened to the 24-hour reality network?
I know Blake (of Blake and Paige from The Amazing Race) and some other investors signed on to create a network dedicated to reality programming. Anyone hear any updates on this? Their web site (http://www.realitycentral.com) seems bare and no one's posted on their "staff blogs" since 10/04. Is this dead?

FOX REALITY CHANNEL (FRC) - News Corp.'s long-in-the-works reality channel will finally see the light of day when it launches on Tuesday, May 24. Nearly 18.5 million homes will have access to the channel in its first year through such cable/satellite providers as DirectTV, Dish, Cox, Adelphia and Insight. The channel's initial lineup will feature repeats of nearly 30 reality series, including "The Swan," "Joe Millionaire," "Temptation Island," "Last Comic Standing," "For Love Or Money," "My Big Fat Obnoxious..," "Mr. Personality," "Celebrity Boxing," "Love Cruise," "Mad, Mad House," "Meet My Folks," "Arrest & Trial," "The Fifth Wheel" and "Who Wants to Marry My Dad?" In addition, Fox Reality plans to offer international versions of several series ("Joe Millionaire," "Temptation Island") as well as various U.K. imports ("Single Girls," "The Villa"). The network is also in talks to land repeats of "The Bachelor" franchise, as well as "The Will," "Last Resort," "Scariest Places on Earth" and "The Family." As far as original Fox Reality series, network executives hope to start adding first-run offerings by the first quarter of 2006. More details, including the full launch slate and schedule, are expected to be released shortly.

Yeah - that would be nice since I never saw the first 3. Might be tough though given that TAR is a CBS show. I always thought GSN would be a good place to air the game-show type reality shows like Survior and TAR.
I wouldn't mind seeing Temptation Island again, and the foreign versions. That was great stuff.

Haha, the first time I saw that commercial I seriously thought it was going to be a real show. They've put worse reality shows on TV.

Damned if I didn't find myself watching about 2 hours of Joe Millionaire on the Fox Reality Channel this weekend. I think that pretty much all they have right now. At least that's the only thing thats been on since we got the channel.

Official word on TAR reruns on GSN:
That's awesome - I didn't see the first 3 seasons, so with nightly airings, I'll be able to watch those 3 seasons in about 8 weeks.
'Amazing Race' (Re)Runs to GSN
(Wednesday, June 08 02:32 PM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Cable network GSN has finalized a deal for rerun rights to "The Amazing Race," joining a burgeoning trend of unscripted series finding life after their initial airings.
The former Game Show Network has picked up repeats of all seven editions of the show that have aired on CBS, plus rights to the eighth edition of the game, which debuts in the fall, and an option for the ninth and 10th cycles. Episodes will air nightly at 9 p.m. ET, beginning Monday, July 11 with the show's first episode.
"'The Amazing Race' is perfect for our network. It offers everything that our network stands for -- competition, adventure, terrific production values, good storylines and great characters," says Ian Valentine, head of programming at GSN. "We couldn't be more thrilled to be the year-round home of this award-winning series."
GSN's deal for "The Amazing Race," in the works for several weeks, comes shortly after OLN picked up rights to "Survivor" and VH1 snagged "America's Next Top Model." The acquisitions are pretty much virgin territory for unscripted shows, which, aside from same-week encores in some cases, aren't part of their networks' regular rerun schedules.
The conventional wisdom is that because they have serial stories and fans already know the outcome, they won't work as repeats. "The Amazing Race," though, may have an advantage in that regard. Although its popularity has taken off in the past year, its first few seasons didn't capture very big audiences.
"We have received an outpouring of responses from our viewers that they would love to see the series again, and we have many fans who came to the series after its beginning," executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer says. "'The Amazing Race' on GSN will satisfy both groups and hopefully bring in new fans."
