A bit early for a thread. Looks interesting though. IIRC, the actress for nadia really is from Argentina, so she should be able to pull this off well.

movieking 03-21-05 06:10 PM

Based on the description, I have no desire to watch this episode.

lisadoris 03-21-05 07:34 PM

Interesting concept we'll see how it turns out.

areacode212 03-21-05 07:47 PM

Hmm...I've given up on this show, but this sounds pretty interesting. I may check it out.

deadlax 03-21-05 07:49 PM

ay yay yay, no me gusta.

kantonburg 03-21-05 08:15 PM

each week my interest for this show just goes further down the drain

Daniel-A 03-21-05 08:22 PM

LoL im confused about the lookout part. Hopefully I'll understand when I watch it. Had to fight very hard not to highlight the spoiler. ><

I've got the subtitles on half the time due to the baby, so this really won't be that big of a deal.

Count Dooku 03-22-05 02:48 AM

A bit early for a thread.
Usually episode threads are just there for people to discuss what happened after it aired.

I figured if the show was going to do something this radical with the format, people should have a good head's up, since it will effect how you have to watch it.

Rogue588 03-23-05 03:08 PM

well...unless i've had a universal translator implanted into me, during the promos that ABC has been running it sound like they're speaking english..

I'm assuming that you are not a Simpsons fan.

Nadia

Patman 03-23-05 09:03 PM

Not a bad episode, I was interested in the "la femme nadia" vibe to her origin story.

Didn't that lady that Vaughn found at the end look not too happy when Vaughn said that Nadia was good?

Ranger 03-23-05 09:08 PM

It would have been a decent episode but the annoying music ruined it.

Dr. DVD 03-23-05 09:29 PM

I wonder if this season is building to an Obi-Wan vs. Anakin type fallout between Sydney and Nadia?

Barry Woodward 03-23-05 09:48 PM

They've been telegraphing it ever since the tail end of season 3. The Rambaldi prophecy said they'll fight to the death. Nadia's had dreams about it. Sydney still hasn't told Nadia who's really responisible for their mother's death so that's one thing that could drive them apart. Plus, remember the Rambaldi prophecy about Sydney from the first season? They're setting up the dominoes.

resinrats 03-23-05 09:55 PM

They should have have Roberto working for one of the SD organizations. What are the chances that both sisters would be working for fake spy agencies with no connections.

Was young Nadia played by the same actress as present day one? It sure looked like it but she did look younger. If it was different actresses, good casting job.

Whoever puts those subtitles in should be shot. Nice job at white subtitles and the background happens to be white a good portion of the time. Why don't subtitle companies use letters that have a black boarder so if the background suddently matches the font color, it is still easily read.

Barry Woodward 03-23-05 09:56 PM

Same actress for the flashbacks. Speaking of which, very Lost-esque. Not bad.

areacode212 03-23-05 10:00 PM

Ay, Dios mio! I missed it because I was watching Magnum, P.I. on DVD instead. So much for my return to Alias.

Spoiler:
Of course, Lena Olin is officially signed but Sydney and Nadia, however, don't know she's still alive so the falling out between the two can still happen over this prior to Irina revealing herself in the season finale.

DeadLamb 03-24-05 06:36 AM

not a bad ep this time.. the Spanish, with English subtitles was not that big of a deal unless you wanted to just have the show on the the back ground or something and don't speak Spanish.

As for the direction of the show this season.. errrr I like the show over all but I think they need to mix in a few more larger multi-ep over lap story lines. Every story line seems to be wrapping up in a neat little package at the end of every ep is taking a lot of the suspense out of the show over all. I was thinking this season was going to be more Xfiles like in it's mix.. Ya know as in a few closed story lines, then a few big over lapping ones for the main -season- story line..

So far it's a lot of one off eps with hints at one main story line..

B.A. 03-24-05 07:57 AM

I am not a big fan of Mia Maestro's Nadia character being a regular on the show, but at least the woman is gorgeous and doesn't have a fucked up mouth that bothers me everytime they put her face on screen.

Sonia Braga - now I must go watch MOON OVER PARADOR to remind me of what she looked like when she was younger...

Decent ep, the best part was the scene between Marshall and Jack. "Vaughn asked me to lunch."

I don't think anybody on this show stays dead. Except Syd's fiance and anyone Jack has personally killed on-screen. Hell, I'm waiting for Emily to come back and ask Arvin where he bought those stupid fucking glasses.

Wasn't that the lady who raised Nadia in the orphanage?

bboisvert 03-24-05 09:20 AM

I used the La Femme Nadia reference while watching it last night too.

I think this is probably the best episode so far this season -- one I actually enjoyed. I'm not even a fan of teh Nadia character, but this episode had an interesting story, situations that I could care about, etc.

Not much else to say about it. Just glad to see that it didn't suck. ;)

RocShemp 03-24-05 10:45 AM

It was a decent ep. I liked it but there was something about it that kept me from loving it. And I don't mean the sometimes accurate/sometimes way too interpretive subtitles. There was just... I dunno.

I just hope something good is done with this "two sisters working for totally unrelated fake agencies" coincidence.

And when the heck will this season pick up the pace? Season 3 may have been all over the place but this season is on snooze.

 That was the best line of the show. The scene between Vaughn and Marshall when they were talking about lunch was great, too.

You should rent Dona Flor and her two husbands.

MrX 03-24-05 02:12 PM

Pretty good episode

The stuff with Marshall and Vaughn was good. I also thought at the end the woman did not seem very happy when she heard Nadia is still alive.

Emma311 03-24-05 10:57 PM

It kind of seemed to me like they were showing that Nadia did what Syd never got to do. When she found out about the deception she just took the guy out, instead of just being angry with him for eternity. I still don't get the Nadia wanting to get to know her father thing, like they showed in the episode with the family dinner. I don't care if he "saved" her at the end (S3), I would hate him if I were her.

Chew 03-25-05 08:34 AM

Marshall brings teh funny again.

I'd say Garner had a lot more than a cameo appearance. The first post made it sound like she would be barely in it.

cardaway 03-25-05 09:08 AM

Since they ended the episode after 10:00 once again I missed the end.

Who did Vaugn find? What was said?

Vaughn found Sonia Braga's character (the lady from Nadia's orphanage in Argentina) in Lisbon - for some reason his dad had her address in his journal. She told Vaughn that the only time she ever met his dad was when he dropped Nadia off, though she did say that he stayed a few days to recuperate from a gun-shot wound. She then asked Vaughn about Nadia and he said that she was doing good. Sonia didn't have a good look on her face upon hearing that.
